"his mansion is right there, just..." (Y/N) paused as her finger was still pressed against the map of saint denis "stay careful"

"thank you miss (L/N)" Dutch exclaimed as he had both hands layed on the table infront of them as he stared at the map "this'll save us the hassle of tracking that bastard down"

Arthur, who stood beside (Y/N), gave a nod as he sketched out the map to remember for later "yes, real glad we picked ya up on that mountain" he joked

"just doing what I can to help" replied (Y/N) as she removed her hand from the map and gave the four other men at the table a respectful nod, noticing how John was still more reasonably on edge while Hosea remained the calmest, the pair of them standing on either of Dutch's sides

(Y/N) made her way our of the old plantation house and took a deep breath, taking in a fresh breath of air and being welcomed by a combination of the sounds from several gang members, the sounds from the swamp and of course Cain's barks from the opposite side of the house

it had been a couple of days since they had moved in, and despite the new change in scenery, (Y/N) still felt as if she were stuck in time the moment the bullet hit Sean

'the past is in the past'  she reminded herself, recalling hearing Strauss tell Bill that back in Horseshoe after he got spooked by something in the distance

(Y/N) made her way towards her shared tent, taking off the jacket she borrowed from Javier, cause of a morning breeze, and rolled down her sleeves a little past her elbows

"heat getting to ya?" remarked a voice from behind her, causing her to whip around in alarm before giving a sigh of relief "oh, hey Charles"

Charles gave a small nod as a greeting and let his hands hover above the fire to check how hot it would be to sit near it "so, how you holding up?"

(Y/N) dusted her (pants/skirt) and shrugged "could be better" she half convinced herself, not bothering to mention her mind still keeping the grief of Sean fresh

"glad it's not worse" Charles reflected as he kept his deep gaze on the fire "Bill is still ticked at the Greys and Arthur being Arthur likes to keep it to himself but honestly" he paused and lifted his head to look at her "you can tell he's awfully hurt"

(Y/N) gave a stiff nod and took a deep breath "well, all I can say is, that surely escalated more fast than any of us could mentally process"

Charles nodded before giving a small chuckle "only one I see who's been acting normal is Micah, but are we surprised?"

the pair shared a small work chuckle before Charles shifted a bit "regardless, I'm glad you're still with us, I was told that the bullet could've easily hit you if Sean had not-" he cut himself off respectfully as he watched (Y/N) cross her arms as her face twisted a bit, clearly thinking back on stuff

"y-yeah" she murmured before shaking her head "I just wish the bullet would've missed him as well"

"we all do" responded Charles solemnly before dropping his hands and wiping them against the sides of his pants "just know you're not alone in, all this"

(Y/N) let out a small smile and nodded as Charles turned around and stepped over the log before pausing, an idea popping into his mind before he turned to face her "matter of fact, how about you come hunting with me? to uh, you know, help take your mind off stuff"
