Lia and Garcia were stood at the elevator doors seconds after Garcia got the notification that the team was in the building.

"Hey! It's good to see you again Lia." Emily greeted, going to hug her karaoke partner.

"No, no, no." Garcia interrupted, putting her arm in between the two of them. "You guys can catch up later, it's their turn first." She said, pointing between Derek and Lia before pushing the team towards the glass doors.

"Hey." Lia said awkwardly, hating how all the attention had been put onto her.

"Hey." Derek returned.

"I was so scared, mainly because Penny didn't tell me anything other than to get to the office so I had no idea-"

Despite Derek thinking Lia's rambling was incredibly cute, he knew she was probably spiralling so he cut it short by placing a kiss to her lips.

"That- that helps."

"I thought it might." Derek chuckled, kissing her forehead as she lightly hugged him, too scared to hurt him to make it any tighter. "I love you okay? And I'm not going anywhere."

"I cancelled our reservations this morning because I figured you'd be too tired even if you did make it home, so we could do takeout at mine?" Lia said once they had pulled apart, Derek took her hand and lead her towards the BAU.

"I need to stop by my place anyway, so we should just stay there?"

"Okay."

"I cannot get over how cute you two are!" Garcia squealed once Lia and Derek were close enough.

"You good to stick around whilst I do my paperwork?" Derek asked Lia, who had turned a subtle shade of red.

"Paperwork can wait, go spend some time with Lia." Hotch ordered from his office doorway.

"Thank you Aaron, tell Jack I said hi."

----------

They ended up doing just as Lia had suggested, going back to his place and ordering Thai food.

Before the food came, Derek tried to pull Lia into his arms so they were laying on the sofa with her back on his chest and her legs between his but she resisted. Saying she didn't want to hurt him.

It took some persuasion but he eventually managed to convince her that he was okay and she hasn't left his arms since.

"Wait there one sec." Derek said, detaching himself from Lia after putting his plate on the coffee table.

She opened her mouth to complain about the loss of contact but immediately shut it, fearing the consequences of her words.

He returned seconds later with a box in his hands.

"You didn't..." Lia said, her eyes flickering back and forth from the box to Derek's face.

"I spoke to JJ about it," He started, retaking his seat next to her. "And she said it might be a sensitive subject but I wanted to give it to you anyway." He explained, handing her the box once he was finished.

"But I didn't get you anything."

"Having you here is enough for me." Derek said, aware of how cliché it was but it was true. When he got shot, all he could think about was Lia and making sure she was okay. That was also the moment he realised he couldn't see his life without her anymore.

She slowly opened the narrow box and once she had seen what was inside she picked up the charm that hung from the simple silver chain and held it between two fingers. "JJ told you about my mum's necklace?"

"Yeah and if its too much you don't have to take it." Derek said, offering her an out.

She just shook her head, nimbly removing the jewellery from its box and handing it to him before turning away and moving her hair out of his way.

Derek happily took the hint, smiling at the way goosebumps rose on her skin as it came into contact with the cold metal and his warm hands. He couldn't help but to press a kiss to the skin between her neck and shoulder blade once the necklace was on, his smile only growing when she didn't flinch away despite him knowing he was mere inches away from the cigarette burns that littered her shoulder blade.

----------

Waking up to an empty bed, Derek couldn't help but wonder if last night was just a dream but the muffled noise coming from the kitchen suggested it was real.

Getting out of bed, he pulled on some joggers and decided to forego a shirt as he followed the sound back to its source.

The scene that he found was very similar to the day he had confessed his love to Lia, she was standing in front of the stove, wearing one of his shirts with her hair tied up in a messy bun but this time she was singing.

The song was something that he recognised from being on the radio when he was growing up but what had him entranced was Lia's voice. It was just as smooth and velvety as the time she sang Don't Stop Believing with Prentiss but this time it was more relaxed as she absentmindedly but perfectly followed the tune of one of her mother's favourite songs.

"You really should start taking pictures." She teased, having been watching him watch her for a moment or two without him realising she was even looking in his direction.

"I don't think JJ would appreciate me having pictures of you in nothing more than my shirt around my apartment." Derek retaliated, coming further into the kitchen now his presence was known only to wrap his arms around her waist when she turned back to the stove like he did on that day.

"I'm getting deja vu." Lia commented, leaning her head back against his chest.

"I love you so much." Derek repeated what he had originally said, feeling what could only be described as pure joy when Lia didn't tense at the words.

"You mean the world to me too."

"I like that." Derek chuckled.

"Yeah?" Lia questioned almost smugly.

"Mhm." He hummed, pressing a kiss to the top of her head as she pried his arms away from her so she could plate up their breakfast.

A/N: okay folks. Big authors note incoming

First off, sorry about the spam of chapters. This is everything I have written for this fic and have decided to just upload it all.

I don't know if this is the end because I have so many more ideas planned for this book and am aware there are a few storylines left open but it has been over a year since I've actually written anything new.

So I decided to just give you what I have and see where the future takes me
