"ALEX!" Y/n screamed into her mic.
"WHAT?" He yelled with equal energy back but there was clearly a laugh concealed behind it. Y/n made some unidentifiable sound that sounded in between a scoff, yell, and a groan.
"I can't believe you."
"What did I do?" He cackled as he got a dislike notification for his video. "Oh I see, veo, veo"
"I'm unsubscribing immediately, how fucking dare you, bitch."
"DUDE WATCH THE WHOLE VIDEO FIRST YOU NOOB!"
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN NOOB? YOU'RE THE ONE WHO SUCKS ASS AT MINECRAFT!"
"Mira el maldito video PRIMERO!"
"I refuse to watch a video in which the title is Minecraft sucks!" Y/n shrieked, banging the table, much like how Alex did.
"Absolute hater behavior, disliking before even watching it. You should consider starting a hate account, not gonna lie. Oh wait never mind you could fucking dox me" He exclaimed. "By the way, did you know I've seen SO many fake accounts of me lately on ToonTown. It's actually crazy, I'm honestly proud. I mean, I cry myself to bed every day knowing they exist, but do you know what that means?"
"That you need to go see a therapist?"
"NO, it means that I'm gaining popularity and people actually want to BE me" He quipped, "speaking of that... I just hit 15k subscribasssss"
"Oh holy shit nice job man," y/n congratulated, proud of him, but pangs of jealousy still hit through. She went to his account and sure enough, right below his bolded name QuackityHQ, there were the number 15.3k subscribers. It seemed like his 7k milestone was just yesterday. She giggled, remembering that one.
Dear lord, was that cloning video chaotic.
After slowly removing the dislike thumb she played his latest video, preparing to double over in laughter like she always did when watching his videos. She claims it's because of how horrible it is but she secretly genuinely enjoyed his content, though she would never admit that Alex was actually funny to his face.
It's been a year and a half since he started uploading. And the growth on his channel may not have been as much as he deserved but it was insane. Quoting him, if a guy told him back then that he would have this many subs in two years he would've slapped him.
She would have slapped him out of spite of it anyways.
The milestone really got her thinking about what's happened in the past months. She had her first fight with Alex, which was something she still laughed over, because of how dumb it was. She finished her freshman year of high school with Matt and survived and didn't lose her virginity, the 10 dollar bet with Big Q still on.
And... she revealed her face to him, even though it wasn't mutual. It hurt her a little, not the fact that she thought it was unfair but the thought that Alex worried he was too ugly for her. It split her heart in two. Y/n had so many sleepless nights, just... thinking. With already minimal sleep, the thoughts that hit her from every direction didn't do her any good. And they pretty much revolved around the same topic.
What would Alex look like? What did her best friend, the one person she platonically loved most look like?
What would happen if he did it instead of her? She kept pinching herself, reassuring herself that she wouldn't care about what he looked like, and it wouldn't matter what he looked like because that doesn't change who he is as a person. He was so funny and adorable and a wonderful friend. It shouldn't matter.
Then why do I want to see his face so bad?
Her breathing increased, anxiety blocking her throat. Did her face change anything to him? No, it didn't. It's been a year, nothing has changed. Nothing at all. Clearly, Quackity thought she was pretty so nothing changed and it's not like he had feelings since he's been acting the same ever since the video call.
