I walked into the Curtis house after an eventful time with Johnny. Ponyboy was sitting on the couch. Sodapop and Steve would be home from work soon. I sat down on the chair across the room from Ponyboy, smiling ear to ear.
"Someone's happy," Ponyboy said.
"Oh, yes," I exclaimed.
"Why?"
I debated telling Ponyboy everything that happened. I knew he would never tell no one. But, I didn't know if I should. Not like we were boyfriend and girlfriend or anything. We just... had feelings for each other. "Oh no reason, really," I said.

"Hey, Johnny," I said, sitting down in a chair in Johnny's hospital room.
"Hey!" Johnny exclaimed, sounding really eager to see me.
"Uh... hi," I said, giggling.
"I have really good news!" Johnny told me.
"What?" I asked, sitting up.
"Doc' says I'm doin' a lot better! I might be able to walk again. I just... need surgery. He said a rib got moved around a bit, but if I get a surgery I'll be as good as new... kind of."
"Johnny! That's awesome!" I exclaimed.
"I know, I'm really happy. I am feeling a lot better too!"
"When's the surgery?" I asked.
"Two days," he said.
"Wow, that's soon!" I cried.
"I know..." Johnny began, "I have a question for you."
"What?" I asked.
"So... after I get out--uh, I dunno," he mumbled, "it's lame."
"No... tell me," I said, intrigued.
"I just--wanted to see if you wanted to go to the, uh... Valentine's Dance with me if I get out soon—I dunno, man, it was just--I don't," Johnny stuttered.
I giggled, a huge smile appeared on my face. "Sure, Johnny, I'd love to."
Johnny smiled at me, "Cool, man."
