Chapter Seventeen - Run to me

Serena and Bart returned home, everyone was gone. Rose, Eric and Lily were sat on the floor at the coffee table eating cake.

"Hey where is everyone."

"Well, despite Rose's best efforts the part wasn't the same after you left." Lily replied

"Yeah, you missed a treat. Rose got up and started singing and she can sing." Eric grinned

"He's over exaggerating." Rose rolled her eyes brushing of the diversion performance that she had done to try and salvage the night.

"I'm not she sang Whitney Huston and she hit the high notes" Eric added

"I'm sorry I missed it." Bart tapped Rose and Eric's shoulder they got up leaving the two to talk. Rose got a drink, Eric and Bart got more forks. When they sat down three phones went off. They looked at them

Spotted: Our Rising Phoenix is a actually a rising star. Interesting song choice R. Never the less I'm impressed.

"Figures." Rose chucked her phone on the couch behind her.

"I'm sorry I embarrassed you in front of a national magazine." Serena apologised other mother "And I'm sorry I acted the way I did." she turned to Bart

"Apology accepted."

"Our family is our family. That's just who we are."

"Yeah, despite how you act at school here you fit right in. Talking back to parents is a must, who else is going to keep them in line." Rose joked

"You keep me in line do you?" Bart questioned his daughter

"Please we all know you and Chuck crap your pants when I'm pissed off at you. I rule the roost" they laughed

"You killed the story didn't you?" Lily questioned her husband

"I didn't need to, someone beat me too it." Bart looked down at Rosie and they all looked at her.

"What?" she wondered eating cake "I'm innocent of all charges." They laughed

Dan opened the door to the loft and walked in. Jenny and Rufas turned their attention to him.

"What happened?" he didn't reply but looked behind him as Nate walked in with his bags.

"Hope you don't mind, but we have a lodger. I'll make up the sofa." Dan says

"I'll get the ice cream." Jenny adds. Dan phones goes off and he takes it out. He reads the blast and watches the video.

"Dan, you okay?" Rufus wondered

"No, I'm an idiot. I need to go."

"Go where?" Nate questioned

"Fix a mistake and get the girl." Dan slapped his shoulder and headed for the door again

"Good luck!" Rufus and Jenny called after him. Dan got the subway into the city and then a taxi to the Bass and Van der Woodsen apartment. Once he arrived he was let in and went up.  They were still talking when he stepped out. Though none of them were sat on chairs

"Rose." they all looked at him "I'm sorry to interrupt but I need to talk to you."

"Not, now it's late." she sighed

"Yes, now." She didn't move to talk to him "God you're stubborn" he bent down to grab her hand and pull her up. She squealed as he pulled into his arms and kissed her. Serena looked away.

"Seen as you won't let me do that in private I might as well say it here. I know who you are and I still love you, I don't care that you think you're wrong for me because actually you're  completely wrong. And if I have to prove that constantly then so be it." He leaned into her ear "Run to me." she broke out into a broad smile then kissed him once more.

"Mr Bass please could I escort your daughter home?"

"Of course Daniel. I will have a car brought round for you." Bart had a proud look, Dan nodded and swept Rose off her feet she squealed again and started laughing. he took her away. Bart chuckled and stood up going to call the limo back.

"Are you okay, sweetheart?" Lily asked her daughter

"Is it weird if I say I should have seen that coming?" Lily squeezed her hand in comfort.
