juliet swan was an interesting mix of her parents, charlie and renee. she was quiet and reserved like charlie, though her artist vision mirrored that or her mother. bella, her twin sister, wasn't much like anyone in the family. after their divorce, renee took bella to california while charlie stayed in forks with juliet. though, juliet spent most of her time a few miles from town, at the clearwaters house on the quileute reservation. charlie's best friends harry and sue also had a daughter, leah, and she was happy to look after juliet while charlie worked.
fast forward 16 years, and juliet and leah are attached at the hip. leah, now 18, about to graduate high school and more standoffish than most seemed like an unlikely friend to the quiet, artsy juliet who split her time between school on the reservation and work in town at a bookstore. she wouldn't admit it, but juliet had known she was in love with leah for years. ever since leah started dating sam uley-though juliet knew better than it bring that up. content with staying quiet and staying home for the rest of her life, juliet was more than anxious when charlie told her that bella was moving back.
charlie was too excited for juliet to bother voicing her concerns, though leah could tell something was up-even when juliet denied it. in late january, 2005, bella swan arrives home. however, forks would never be the same.
