THERE WAS NO WAY TO EXPLAIN THE WAY THAT MADELYN FELT WHEN SHE TURNED AROUND, she wasn't sure what to expect when she did, but it certainly wasn't miles.
he stared at her with a small smirk, she looked utterly terrified and in shock as she stared back at him,
"what's with the face? i don't bite" he teasingly said,
"yeah but you do strangle" she fired back, he raised his brows at her comment—-scoffing before retorting,
"don't make me" he said with a small smile,
"are you trying to justify strangling a fourteen year old?" she crossed her arms,
"woah, woah, last time i spoke to you, you told me age didn't matter, and now you're using it against me?" his smile never faltered, as if he found something amusing out of the situation, which only pissed her off,
"you were the one who brought it up to begin with" she angrily said back,
"touché..." he trailed off while smirking,
"w-what are you doing home?" she breathlessly asked, trying her best to shake off her nerves, but miles could read her like an open book, and he could tell that she was clearly nervous.
his eyes widened before he played it off with a slightly nervous laugh as he responded,
"i'm a good kid, and i got ahead on school work... there's no reason for me to stay" he said, she stared at him with furrowed brows,
"you're not a good kid" she crossed her arms as she stared ahead at him,
"when you're stuck in that boring ass school, it kind of turns you into one so you can get the hell out..." he laughed slightly,
"...also..." he said as he pulled out a pack of pens from his back pocket and handed them to her,
"...happy late birthday" he said as she took them from him—-a pack of pens, he remembered that she wrote in her journal all the time.
"my birthday was a month ago" she softly said as she stared down at the pens, they were the expensive kind too.
she was surprised miles actually thought of her, he hasn't done that in a very long time.
"it's also an apology gift too, i'm sorry for what happened before i left" he said, she looked up at him in disbelief,
"since when did you think of me and my feelings?" she asked,
"i thought about you the whole time maddy, and i also felt like complete shit about what happened before i left" he honestly said,
"apology accepted" she said, keeping her chin up, he stared down at her before laughing like something was funny,
