It looked like a firework show on one end of the castle as they tried to break through our shield, on the other side we could see smoke coming from the Quidditch pitch. They were getting closer. Harry and I were sprinting up the stairs to the seventh floor when suddenly he lost his footing, almost collapsing next to the wall.
"Harry?" I froze as his eyes unfocused, his breathing labored, "Harry what happened? What do you see?" I did my best to keep him upright as more and more students rushed past us. I heard a large boom come from outside, with my hand still on Harry, I saw cracks in the shield as it started to come undone, "Harry, c'mon talk to me!" I urged, shaking him urgently.
He took some deep breaths, "They did it. They killed another one. Let's go," he got to his feet and we started running down the main staircase to find Ron and Hermione.
The sounds of war ranged on outside, I could hear the roar of giants, feel the slight chill of dementors. Everyone started to take cover inside, and as I ran I felt a bit of relief when I heard the distant roar of a dragon. Guess Charlie had gotten my little gift after all.
Suddenly there was a crash coming from the landing above us, all the students ducked for cover. Once we saw the black mist of a Death Eater, Harry raised his wand, shouting "Stupefy!" The body crashed into a pillar unable to move.
We continued on our way down, however instead of being met with Ron and Hermione we caught up with, "Ginny! Neville, are you alright?" I analyzed his bleeding face anxiously.
"Never better! I feel like I could spit fire! You haven't seen Luna have you?" He asked quickly.
"Luna?" Harry asked, we hadn't seen her since before meeting with the Grey Lady.
He nodded, "I'm mad for her! I think it's about time I told her since we'll probably both be dead by dawn!" He shouted back as he ran into battle. I thought that was absolutely beautiful, I always figured they'd be a cute couple. When I turned back I saw Harry snogging my sister, "While I love this!" I motioned to the two of them as they broke apart, "I hate to be the one to remind you that there's a bloody war going on!"
They glanced back at each other, "I know," Ginny nodded toward him before running up the stairs in the same direction Neville had gone.
Harry watched her leave, I grabbed Harry so we could keep going, "Don't act like if Draco was here you wouldn't do the same thing!" He teased.
"Oh so now you're teasing me?" I scoffed playfully. But at the mention of Draco I couldn't help but glance down at my ring and wonder-no, hope he was okay.
Once we'd made it to the seventh floor we were relieved to see the corridor abandoned, but we had to narrowly avoid rubble and stone as a large explosion from outside destroyed some of the wall. Finally we made it to the familiar wall, the two of us stopped. Asking for the room where everything is hidden. Painfully slow, the door appeared on the wall, and the moment it was done we ran in.
💜
"You know, I didn't miss this room," I told him as I looked around at all the rubbish, my eyes purposefully avoiding the familiar loveseat.
The two of us started speeding through the room looking absolutely everywhere, "We'll once we find the diadem and destroy it, we're one step closer to killing Voldemort," he reminded me. We separated to cover more ground, and in all honesty, the room seemed a lot bigger than I remembered. However, I did come across the damn Vanishing Cabinet. I paused, glaring at the object flashing back to what happened that night again in my mind, "Mira!" Harry called from the other side, "Come here!" I ran over and saw him staring at a brown box, "It's in there," he whispered.
