The wind blows against our skin as we drive, we have to find Tori's ex- and fast.

"Lucifer-" I start, "um."

"What is it, detective?" He raises an eyebrow

"Um, nothing. We just have to catch this guy." I say, he squints at me- I hate when he does that.

"No, you're lying." He states, biting his lip.

"What?" I exclaim, looking at him

"You didn't want to talk about the case, so go on. What were you really going to say?" He asks, damn.

"I was just thinking," here goes. "if they- the demons- come back, what happens?"

He freezes for a moment, as if the thought hadn't crossed his mind. My heart sinks- He doesn't know.

"That's not going to happen." He states, half smiling

"Lucifer," I start, as we make eye contact, "That's not what I asked you."

"We will deal with it- together." He says, i nod.
I want to tell him that I don't want to lose him again, but I don't. I just nod.

"This is my favourite part!" Lucifer exclaims, as we reach the suspects house

"It's a nice place- but he's not in the precinct yet, so don't do anything stupid." I tell him, raising my eyebrows for confirmation

He scoffs, "Well have I ever done something stupid befo-" His breath catches in his throat, as if he realized something.

I raise an eyebrow, confused. "What?" I ask

"I'm sorry, Detective." He says, his eyes glossy.
And I get it.

"Lucifer it's not your fault, I forgive you." I whisper, trying desperately to get his eyes to find mine

"I don't," He says, as he gets out of the car.
I wish he would.
