"Its three in the morning Y/N"

The boy sighed, his voice deep from lack of sleep

"I know... i- i  just wanted to hear your voice.."

The line was silent, and for a moment i thought that he may have fallen back to sleep

"Can i call you on facetime?"

"Mmmhm"
I answered the call, seeing his face glow in the pale phone light. His eyes were low and i couldn't help but feel guilty for calling him so late

He closed his eyes, rolling onto his back before speaking

"What time is it for you?"

I looked over at my dull screen again

"7:00 pm"

I could see him grimace a bit as i spoke

"Why are you in bed so early, love? Did something happen"

"It's just been a rough day... that's all"

Truth is, I missed the boy more than I would care to admit. We had been long distance for the last few months, him living in the UK and me living in the US.

at first the distance was bearable.

We would visit often, facetime all day, constantly text and talk, and i never felt alone... but recently everything has changed. Days feel longer, he's never there, and i'm starting to feel like the distance is growing more and more each day.

We had been through this before.

"Ill try harder, i promise."

He had said those words to me so many times, but he was just a broken record. Over, and over, and over, and over.

He hasn't responded to my words, and i could feel my heart tug a bit as he ignored my presence

"George?"

"Mmhm?"

"Do you still love me?"

I watched as he opened his eyes, looking up at the ceiling of his room with a sigh

"Of course i do Y/N...why would you ask that "

"I don't know... i'm sorry for saying anything"

I looked away from him, mimicking his position, my eyes focused on my bedroom ceiling

We sat in a comfortable silence, only the light shuffling of my cat and the sound of the busy London streets moved between us, though my mind seemed to rush with thoughts of our future.

"You deserve so much better Y/N, i hope you know that"

"I don't want better, i want you"

He sighed loudly, throwing his hands onto his face in frustration

"why do you always let me hurt you Y/N? Time after time you let yourself hurt because of me and i-"

"Because I love you George. It feels like we're worlds apart, thousands, and thousands of light years away, but I just can't seem to let go of you"

Tears tugged at my eyes, threatening to fall as i spoke

"I don't know how to explain it but I just feel-"

I paused, hearing sniffling begin to pour out from the other side of the line. I looked over, his room still dark but the faint glow of his phone allowed me to see his pink cheeks and glossy eyes

"I need you"

His voice was just barely above a whisper, but it hit like a train

"I can't lose you Y/N"
