"Two nights!? You really think that's going to stop them from going back into the maze?" Gally raises his voice,
"No, I don't." Newt answers,
"Two nights and when you're released you start as runners, both of you." Newt continues,
I look at him surprised and happily at the same time.
Gally gets upset and storms out of the hut,
I mouth a silent "thank you."
He nods.
We head towards the pit, Thomas gets in first,
I hesitate,
"what's wrong love? It's only two days, you'll be out before you know it." Newt speaks softly,
"I hate to ruin the moment but seriously, TWO DAYS in the pit, with this slinthead." I point to Thomas, sitting in the corner of the pit,
"If it makes you feel any better I'll be sure to come back and check up on you." Newt assures me,
I sigh, "alright."
I give him one last hug and a quick kiss on the cheek,
He doesn't expect it as he slightly blushes, he smiles in return.
I hop into the pit and sit on the opposite side, as far away from Thomas as I possibly could get in a small space like this,
We sit in awkward silence for about 10 minutes until Thomas speaks out of nowhere,
"Why do you hate me so much?"
I slightly bring my head up from the ground,
"I don't hate you, slightly dislike at the moment works just fine."
"Fine, why do you slightly dislike me?"
"Ugh- I don't know, I'm just kind of upset that you went back into the maze without me, especially since i'm the one who killed the griever, after you ditched me."
I mumble the last part quieter because I knew I didn't mean it,
"I had no choice! I care about you y/n, that's why I didn't tell you.."
"Why?"
"Because I want to protect you, I couldn't do that the first night in the maze so..." his voice trails off,
"I just didn't want to put you in danger again."
"Thomas, you would not have put me in danger, I ran into the maze first, remember?"
"Yeah, I just- I'm sorry okay."
I turn to face him, "don't be."
