Part 21: wasted

Only about 40 or so minutes later I hear footsteps approaching the pit,

Before I could pick myself up from the ground a voice speaks,

"Hello love."

"Newt?" I practically threw myself up to the bars to face him,

He looks down from above on me and Thomas inside the pit,

"That is my name."

"Why didn't you, WAIT~" I stop myself mid question, "did you just call me love?" I smirk,

"Yeah well only if you're okay with it of course." He rubs the back of his neck awkwardly,

"When are we getting out?" Thomas suddenly speaks from the corner he was slouched in,

"Don't worry greenie, you'll be out soon enough."

"My name is Thomas." He replies sternly,

"Okay...greenie."

Thomas rolls his eyes at Newts snarky joke.

"We've been in here forever, can't you just let us out, or maybe just me." The last part was meant as a joke but if it didn't come off that way, I wouldn't know,

"Sorry love, no can do."

"Ugh, Newt come on! Name your price."

"You think I can be bought, that's slightly insulting y/n." He chuckles,

"Can you two stop flirting already." Thomas speaks,

"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the pit." Newt scoffs,

"Actually I didn't, me and y/n woke up on the same side so I think I woke up on the correct side." Thomas gloats, "very correct side."

Newt and I make eye contact and he looks not only confused but slightly pissed.

"What is he talking about?" Newt questions me,

"Nothing."

"So what just happened was nothing?"

"Thomas stop, why can't we all just get along for at least 24 hours."

"You can't just play with peoples feelings."

"Can we stop talking about this now, please."

Newt finally speaks after mine and Thomas's bickering, "I'll leave you to that."

He walks away, for real this time.

"Goddamnit Thomas, look what you did now."

"ME!? No, you y/n, you can't do that, you can't just go back and forth."

"I never said I liked you Thomas."

Instant regret.

"So you just go around kissing everyone now? Okay you know what fine, from now on don't talk to me."

"Fine." I cross my arms and sit back down,

Thomas even turned the other direction so as not to look at me,

"You know how childish you are Thomas?"

He ignores me,

They better get us out of here soon,

Or I'm going to do something I won't regret.
