I woke up, my heart racing and tears in my eyes. It was still dark in my room, the only light coming from the crack underneath my door. I was tangled up in my blankets but I threw them off of me. I sat up and grabbed for my phone, opening it and calling Sam.

"Is everything okay?" His voice was scratchy and deep as he had most likely just woken up.

My mouth was dry as I tried to speak, "Nightmare."

"Hey." I heard him move around slightly, his face appearing on the screen, dully lit by the screen, "Do you want to talk about it?"

I shook my head. "Did I wake you up?"

"You know that I'll always wake up for you."

"Sam." I whined.

"What?" He dragged out the word, lightly laughing as he spoke. "It's true."

I moved under my blankets, pulling them over my head. "Thank you."

"I'll stay on until you fall back asleep."
