Eyes like the Devil he's got and a soul as dark as his name.

On Halloween morning, Betelgeuse awoke with the rest and went down to breakfast, feeling gloomier than ever. She had written a letter home three days prior, and she did not have received a reply yet. Fred was waiting for her by the Great Hall, immediately noticing the ominous dark air surrounding the girl. "Oi, Bel. What's going on?"

Betelgeuse waved him off, heading to the Gryffindor table, but she found her path blocked by Fred. "Tell me, you are a terrible liar."

The girl shrugged, sitting beside the boy, "I lie magnificently, Fred."

Fred silently nodded, gesturing with his hand for the girl to continue, "You are right."

"I know I am always right, Fred."

"I beg to differ, Black," Fred quipped back.

"I could agree with you, but then we would be both wrong, Weasley," Betelgeuse replied, smirking.

"Enough of all this sass, Bel." Fred firmly commanded. Betelgeuse regarded him with a pensive look. He is seriously worried.

She sighed, "I am on edge about my uncle. Everyone thinks that I am just like him because of my connection with him." She paused with a pensive look on her face, the goblet of pumpkin juice she has been drinking stopped in mid-air. "Not that I am not capable of being a cold-blooded killer; because I am fairly certain of the contrary." She mused, not realising she had scared two first-years nearby to death. Fred shook his head, chuckling softly. He watched her elegant brows furrow, "Additionally, I wrote a letter home, and I have not received a reply yet. I had written down my accomplishment of becoming a Prefect," she grumbled.

"Drama Queen," George commented, having sat in front of Betelgeuse and Fred at the Gryffindor table.

Betelgeuse glared at him, "And your brother's rat gives me a bad feeling. I cannot say the motive, I do not know for myself."

Fred and George eyed her warily. They knew how perceiving Betelgeuse could be; if she sensed something off, it was definitely off. George smiled softly at his best friend, "Bel, you have us."

Fred nodded, taking hold of her hand, "Always."

The Black smiled back, "Enough of this. Let us go if we do not want to miss the carriages to Hogsmeade."

The twins were running wild around Zonko's, practically jotting down everything the store had in stock. They wanted to improve their own jokes, so they were currently taking notes with Lee of what Zonko's offered in hopes to beat the competition.

Betelgeuse stood leaning against a column in the joke shop, gazing at the twirling twins in amusement. They were ingenious and headstrong; they would do anything to reach their goals. Betelgeuse moved her focus away from the twins, leisurely directing her attention to the window nearby.

It was the crisp afternoon of October Thirty First. The streets of Hogsmeade were crowded with students and teachers all wrapped up and excited for their first trip of the year. Betelgeuse observed Angelina and Alicia drag Katie towards Honeydukes. The boys were still muttering to themselves as they started selecting things to buy.
