Chapter 4

Previously on 'A Starlit Gaze'...

Nozomi and Nagisa were searching for Jataro and saw him talking to a strange boy with white hair. The boy whispered something in Jataro's ear and took his leave. The trio make their way to the kitchen.

"Knock, knock!" Nozomi giggled as she knocked on the wall next to the kitchen with Jataro and Nagisa behind her. "Oh! Nozomi! You took a while." Kotoko crossed her arms and furrowed her eyes. "Ah, yeah, it was hard to find our guest over here.." She joked and reached her arm out to hold Jataro's shoulder and noticed that he was hiding behind Nagisa. "Jataro! Let's cook!"

"I thought it was only going to be us two.." He mumbled with fear. 

"S-sorry did I not mention it before?"

Nagisa shook his head. "Well, since Nozomi is here, I'm sure you'll be treated okay." He cheered Jataro up. He hesitantly walked towards Nozomi and into the kitchen with her. 

"We're going to be cooking with him?" Kotoko sighed disapprovingly.

"Come on now Kotoko! Give him a chance! He's actually really nice." She whispered to her.

"I'm here! what did I miss?" Monaca wheels her way into the kitchen, completely ignoring Jataro. Nozomi sighed at how everyone but Nagisa was treating him. 

"Let's just get cooking.." She let out a nervous chuckle. Nagisa waves good-bye and walks over to his room.

"Yeah what dish are we gonna be making? We got all the utensils cleaned while you were gone." Kotoko got the pots and pans ready as she was speaking. 

"I was thinking we can start with something easy but delicious, so maybe a plate of Bouillabaisse and Boeuf bourguignon for starters." She looked at them with a satisfactory smile while everybody stared at her in disbelief.

"Looks like pronouncing the name of the dish is a bigger challenge than cooking it-" Kotoko sighed. "How about something actually easy?" Nozomi giggled at their reaction. "Sorry, sorry then how about a bowl of soba and some salmon tempura?" She clapped her hands and rummaged the pantry for the ingredients. "Hmm, sure! Monaca likes it!" Jataro and Kotoko nodded in agreement. 

"Jataro! Can you help me with this?" 

"Y-yeah!" He walked over to Nozomi. "What is it?"

"Are you good at slicing fish?" 

"Yeah, I slice a lot of things when sculpting."

"Nice! Take this and start cutting it in thick yet small pieces."

"Thick yet small..." He repeated and walks over to the cutting board with the fish in hand.

"Hm... Kotoko! Can you make the batter to dip the fish in?" Nozomi grabbed the flour and eggs and gave them to Kotoko. She nodded and walked over to the counter to mix the ingredients.

"That leaves you with me! Let's make the sauce!"

"I thought you had forgotten about me." Monaca pouts. 

"Haha don't worry I would never." She patted her head, earning a smile from her.

"Let's start! I'm hungry!" Monaca raised her arms and wheeled over to where Nozomi was heading. Nozomi nodded with a smile and got the ingredients for the sauce. "Can you grab the bowls?" 

Kotoko accidentally bumped into Jataro, making her spill a tiny bit of flour on the floor. "Why would you do that?!" She yelled at Jataro, making everyone look at her.
