Don't worry. I don't own anything. It is the world of JK Rowling. We are just living in it ;) And none of the art except the cover page belong to me. HAPPY READING!
He was frustrated. He did not mean to do that. Hell, he never thought he would be able of holding the wizarding world's golden girl's hand. What was he thinking? He must have lost his brain. Yeah, that was it. It was bizarre. Huh!!!
Walking had become one of his many hobbies. He would let his mind and body wander to anywhere they liked to go and most importantly, it calmed his senses. Today was such a day. Clouds covered the sky and moonlight was visible only through them. It created a suspicious atmosphere but the breeze flowing against him had an opposite impression. It was almost romantic he thought and stopped in his tracks when a sudden image flashed before his eyes.
It was the same atmosphere that night. There were two nights Draco dreaded the most and for the most obvious reasons. He was about to do what his heart told him to but he never dared to do so. There was a reason he wasn't in Gryffindor after all. The night Dumbledore died at his ex-professor's and godfather's hand and when Hermione was tortured in front of his eyes by his ex-aunt. He had always given the credit to Potter for saving her that night and saving him from another set of nightmares.
This night was like the night of Dumbledore's death and suddenly the atmosphere became gloomy. He knew for a fact that he wouldn't be able to sleep tonight as well. As if he read his thoughts, Theo emerged from nowhere and stared at Draco. There was an uncomfortable silence yet it was not awkward.
"What is the matter, Draco? You've been off the whole day. Did you finally confess to Ms. Granger?" he ended wiggling his eyebrows.
"Pfftt, you wish. I am a Malfoy, Nott. We don't do things such as confession and on top of that a confession to apologize. And didn't your pea brain give you the indication that I would be happy and not gloomy after taking it off my heart?" He mocked his friend and noticed he was not looking at him but something just behind him and giving his signature smile to the person. Expecting it to be his mother he turned around swiftly with closed eyes and asked, "Mum, what are you doing here?"
"I never expected Draco Malfoy to call me his mother and that too mum." She snickered along with Theo.
The voice was easily extinguishable and now he was afraid to open his eyes. He prayed heavens to swallow him into the earth but to no avail. He opened his eyes and found Hermione standing in front of him. "What are you doing here, Granger?" he spat and noticed the change in her eyes due to his rude question and thus he continued, "I mean what made you come here Hermione at this late hour?".
Beside him, Theo snickered and thankfully left them in each others' company after poking his elbow to his side. It was an indication for him to carry on.
"I wanted to clear out some thoughts and besides I wasn't yet asleep, so I decided to take a stroll in the garden. By the way, it is beautiful. I guess it must be your mother who likes to keep the lawns the way they are?"
He nodded his response and took a single step towards the brown-haired girl. It was not too much of a gesture but he could easily see the alarm in her stance, she had expressive eyes and on top of that, she was a Gryffindor. They were always the ones to keep their hearts up their sleeves still, he did his best to make her a tad comfortably taking her smaller hands in his large ones. He waited until she looked him in the eyes for what was about to come from within.
