Chapter 27

Colby's POV:

"Daniel, I figured I'd run into you." Vera said while sighing,"Long time no see..."

Daniel smirked while looking down at Vera's file,"So you're engaged huh?"

My heart dropped and I completely forgot about that part, I turned to Vera with a confused expression and she looked down at her hands.

"Uh yeah, I am, recently though..." she said unconvincingly, Daniel glared at me which made me very uncomfortable, there was a momentary silence.

"So...doc, can we talk about Vera's health rather than her relationships..." It came out in a much ruder tone than usual, I saw Vera smirking from the corner of my eye

"Right yes," Daniel said annoyed, he walked up to her and took out a sort of small flashlight tool, "Okay Vera can you follow my finger with your eyes please..."

She sat up and did exactly as Daniel had asked her to, he did a few other examinations before speaking up,"As far as I can tell you have a concussion, damage to both Tympanic ear membranes, but no form of internal bleeding or anything too serious..."Vera sighed of relief, "Margeret, order a CT scan aswell as a MRI, just to be safe."

He smiled at Vera before stepping out into the hallway. I watched him whisper something to the nurse before walking off.

"So that's good right?" I said to Vera, she looked up and gave a weak smile, I could see something was bothering her though

"Hey is everyth..." The door opened and Daniels head peaked through it,

"Uh sorry...sir could I have a moment with you?" Daniel asked politely

I turned back to Vera and gave her hand a tight squeeze, "I'll be right back..."

I followed the doctor into the hallway curious what he could possibly want to tell me,"So, you must be the fiancé?" Daniel said awkwardly while holding out his hand to formally greet me.

"Uh yes, Colby." I said

"I just thought that you should know, Vera and I have some...history." I looked at Daniel confused by his intentions," We used to date and it was pretty serious..." Daniel said as if to offend me.

"Oh, uh okay?" I was confused how to answer him

"That's it! Okay?" He seemed tense

"Look man we're engaged, so she already chose me, nothing you can say will offend me..." I tried to stay cool and collect

"But we had sex, like several times!" A smile made it's way on my face and I tried so hard not to laugh at Daniel's words

"How 'bout you keep you and my fiancé's sex life to yourself okay buddy?" I gave him a pat on the shoulder and walked back to Vera,'what a psycho' I thought to myself
