Chapter 24

Colby's POV:

Claire led us to Vera's after we found her on the walkway, we made our way down to her and I knelt beside her lifeless body. Blood rushing from her head I grabbed my hoodie and started applying pressure.

"Hospital, we need to get her to a hospital!" I yelled not caring about anything other than Vera.

I lifted her body off the ground when suddenly she started screaming, Confusion struck, I was unable to do anyting. I looked over at Sam and then I grabbed her.

She resisted trying to get out of my grip but I held her tightly hoping she would stop or calm down, but it didn't work. "Vera." I spoke soflty at first but it didn't work

"Vera!" I yelled, no response or reaction

"NO! Please!" Vera yelled, but I didn't know what to do, I felt helpless, pointless

I placed my lips on her ear and whispered soflty, "V, please come back to me." I felt tears forming in my eyes as the words left my mouth,

"Vera!" Sam said a moment later and I looked up at him confused, "She's awake!" he said and ran towards us. At that moment footsteps approached us only to find Jake and Corey ruining towards us, "We heard the screaming." Jake said

I loosend my grip and turned Veras body towards me, her breathing was uneven and she looked faint. I placed both my hands on her cheeks and cupped her face.

I tried to get her eyes to meet mine, but she was all over the place, "V..." I whispered and she looked up

"Blake." She said soflty after her body collapsed in my arms

Concerned I looked at Sam and we both had the same facial expression.

"We have to get her out of here." I once again attempted to pick her up gently and I was successful. I carried her all the way to the outside of the boat.

I placed her in the passenger seat of my red Corolla and closed the door soflty, "I know she has some weird spirit shit going on, but that was a long fall and I'm pretty sure she's concussed, I'm taking her to the hospital, you guys can either join me or stay. I'm going either way!" They all looked at each other a moment of silence passed and Claire took a step foward.

"Corey, Jake you guys can drive in our car, Sam go with Colby, we'll meet you there." Claire gave a weak smile and we parted ways.
