You got a love so warm, make a heart run wild
*****
Fortunately, and against all odds, the rest of the meal passes by quite normally. Once I shook off the whole marvelous genes-gate out of my brain, my dad and I finished our meals between different topics of conversation.
With Sebastian's new girlfriend, Elijah almost graduating from college and Nathanael turning eight years old, my brothers kept the conversation far away from the whole Harry debacle and I am barely aware of the presence behind me.
I am thinking to myself that the storm has passed and I'm ready to completely forget the whole thing when I can see a figure on the corner of my eye, standing right next to us. I don't look up. Suffice to say, I can smell him perfectly now.
There's definitely chocolate and vanilla in the mix and I'm sure I perceive some kind of flower and maybe sandalwood. Is he wearing a women's fragrance? That's ... sexy, actually.
"Hello! My name is Tom." He introduces himself. His voice is as smooth as silk. "You must be James, right?"
My father, who has been perfectly oblivious to the situation until now, lifts his eyes up to our visitor. I don't have to do so to know who he is, so I decide to keep looking at my oh-so-very empty but yet fascinatingly interesting plate.
I think I'm blushing. That's just perfect.
"Yes, that's right." He answers.
He doesn't seem to know who he is so Tom chuckles timidly and offers his hand to my dad. He clears his voice before speaking again:
"I'm Tom Hiddleston. We are going to be working together this next week."
Forget his perfume. Forget how horribly mortified I feel about him listening to me rumbling on about Chris fucking Hemsworth. My inner Marvel fan surfaces when I hear him say that.
My head tilts up while my gaze goes straight to his face. He is not supposed to be in this film and he has denied any kind of participation whatsoever, in numerous opportunities.
"Hello..." He says when his eyes lock on mine.
"Hi." I respond. I feel the weight of his gaze and I quickly deflect my eyes right on to my father, a safe place. "Dad, this is the guy who plays Loki in the Thor movies. You know... the bad guy. The one your enemies took down in the previous film." I enlighten him.
It's kind of embarrassing that he doesn't know who Tom Hiddleston is. He should have done some research about the characters of the movie. But then again, he wasn't supposed to be in it.
"Of course! Hi, nice to meet you, man!" He shakes Tom's hand. "I'm sorry for my lack of knowledge. I was a Marvel virgin up until this movie." He apologizes and Tom laughs at his comment. He has the most contagious laugh, I notice. "Want to join us? I was about to show her the set."
Tom looks back at me and he smiles. I am quite sure that I'm coming undone right here on my chair. I am so embarrassed that I could dig a hole in the ground and go live there forever. Hell! I could even consider moving back to Los Angeles.
"Sure, that sounds like fun."
I could actually kill my father right now and I must be staring at him in a very judgmental way because he looks at me all confused and all he does is shrug and roll his eyes. He must be thinking that I'm just being annoyed by the fact that a complete stranger has just hijacked our father-daughter quality time. He couldn't be more wrong. I might be neurotic, but I'm not a complete jerk.
