Chapter 4: The Conspirators

For some bizarre reason, Sasha and Connie would have wide grins on their faces every time you greeted them. You'd say a quick "Hey guys" and they'd respond with a wobbly "Hey, Y/n" as they covered their mouths to try to stifle some laughs. You raised an eyebrow at them and asked them what was up, but they both remained elusive. You simply shrugged it off as them just having too much sugar. You then wondered if Armin had gone off to bed. He still hadn't returned your scrunchie.

"Armin? Oh, yup. Yup. Pretty sure he's already asleep in Eren's room." Connie stated with Sasha nodding overzealously in agreement. The two of them walked off with wide smiles and you looked at them suspiciously. Something was definitely up with those two.

So far, it was decided that Reiner and Bertholdt would room with Eren, and Sasha and Connie would room with Mikasa. Apparently, Sasha had come up to Mikasa earlier with faux tears and begged on her knees with an equally distraught Connie to let the baldy sleep with them in the same room. Mikasa, wanting Sasha to let go of her legs, reluctantly complied.

You noticed that everyone was just about ready to sleep as you searched for Eren. Where the hell was he?

You sighed and gave up as you went to the upstairs bathroom to brush your teeth since Marco was currently using the downstairs one to change. If it came down to it, you would just ask Mikasa if you could room with her and the wonder twins. You had finished changing into your baggy T-shirt and pajama shorts and were done with brushing your teeth and washing your face, so you grabbed your bag and opened the door into the now dark hallway. You startled at the sight of gleaming, green eyes waiting outside for you. "Holy crap, Eren, you scared me!" You hissed at him in panic, reeling back as your hand moved up to feel your now racing heart.

"Shh! Keep your voice down!" He whispered to you as he held a finger up to his lips. It seemed that the whole house had fallen silent and everyone was on their way to dreamland. Eren gestured for you to follow him quietly, so you tried your best to tread lightly on the wooden floors. He led you to a room at the end of the long hallway. The guest room on the second floor that was near Mikasa's.

"You can sleep in here." He said to you in a hushed tone that you could barely register. You nodded and thanked him quietly as you reached for the knob and began to turn it. "Wait!" He whispered to you hurriedly, making you stop turning the knob. "This door is a bit creaky so I'll open it." The brunette's overcautiousness to waking the other's up came to you as a surprise, but you found it sweet of him to worry so much about them.

With the door now cracked open enough for you to slip inside the room, you smiled and thanked Eren, bidding him a good night and closing the door softly.

Eren smiled sweetly at you and once you had disappeared into the room, his smile morphed into a more sinister one. He scrambled quickly to retrieve his phone from his pocket and pulled open a group chat. Fingers gliding across his phone's keyboard, he texted a single message:

Ereh: She's in!

The room was dark. Too dark. You couldn't even make out where exactly the bed was. You figured the guest room had its curtains closed which would prevent even the slightest traces of light from getting in. It was late and you were tired, so you didn't even bother trying to find the light switch. Instead, you carelessly dropped your bag on the floor and then focused on feeling your way towards the bed.

As soon as you felt the plush mattress within your grasp, you quickly got under the thin sheet provided and collapsed onto the bed, stretching your limbs out. You felt as if you could fall asleep right then and there on that cushion-ey heaven "Man. The Jaegers sure do know how to pick a mattress." As you were drifting off, you gingerly reached out to grab the second pillow that you assumed the bed had. You always slept while hugging a pillow since it felt comfortable, so you decided to do the same here.
