Hey guys, I'm truly sorry for missing last Sunday's deadline. I'll post this chapter today and post next chapter this Sunday. Anyways, please have a terrific Thursday c:
Armin was the first to wake up out of the two of you. His eyes slowly shook off any lingering sleep as his mind slowly began to power on. He figured that it was late into the morning considering how long it took for him to fall asleep. No wonder he had a slight headache. But he smiled. Because you were there right next to him, cuddled up against the blonde and he couldn't have asked for a better way to start his morning. He smiled gently at your peaceful, sleeping face, taking in how strands of your loose hair were partially covering your cheek. His fingers were twitching at the opportunity to part your hair, but he thought against it. He wouldn't want you waking up and questioning his actions.
He sighed contentedly as he indulged himself in this quiet morning. He didn't want to think about stepping outside into the chilled room. He would deal with that later. Instead, he closed his eyes and let his mind wander.
"Yesterday was fun." He reminisced on how strenuous the school exams had been, but yesterday's antics had surely made his mood soar. He could proudly say that the highlight of his day was being complimented by his best friend and being told that he was attractive. The thought of it made him break out into a goofy smile that he was glad you weren't awake to see.
It was then that you had started to churn in your sleep. You mumbled incoherent things as you felt your consciousness slowly seep back into reality. Your eyes cracked open little by little, shrugging off any stinging feeling left lingering. You looked up groggily to see that Armin was awake and smiling amusedly at you. And you were still clinging onto him.
"You still look tired." He said to you.
Quickly, you unlatched yourself from the boy and scooted away to the other side of the bed that was undoubtedly much colder. Even though last night Armin had been the one to offer you a hug for warmth, you still felt nervous about it. Sure, you had been cold and tired and the spell of sleep had probably made you bolder, but it was morning now and there was really no need to cuddle anymore, even though you craved this closeness.
You focused your eyes downward, far from his as you stuttered out a sorry.
Armin suddenly dropped his somewhat bold demeanour and started to feel flustered as well, finally grasping the concept that you two had, indeed, clung close to each other the whole night. "I-It's fine, Y/n." His morning bliss was suddenly replaced with feelings of shyness. He began to overthink the small things, like how unkempt he was probably looking in that moment, and how bad his breath probably smelled. He simply hoped that you weren't disgusted with this unruly side of himself. Or that you weren't disgusted with his actions in general. The thought of him jeopardizing the friendship over one night of cuddling scared him. The last thing he would want is to drive you away just because he wasn't able to keep his feelings in check.
You laid on your back and stared at the ceiling uncomfortably as you formulated the right things to say in this unique situation. You decided that you definitely needed to let your friend know how much you appreciated his kind action.
"Thank you, Armin." You said softly as you peered over at the boy meekly, finding comfort in his warm, blue eyes that seemed to glow at your comment. A small, nervous smile bloomed on his face as he adjusted himself on the bed, now turning to face you.
"Well, as long as you didn't feel uncomfortable, then I'm glad it helped."
"Yeah. I thought of it as just a really really long hug."
Armin chuckled. "So a cuddle?" He then cringed at what he had said. He considered his mind as his worst enemy and his mouth a traitor.
You blinked at him in surprise as your lips curled into a flustered smile. Your heart had begun to pick up speed. "Haha, well, you're not wrong."
