"She said we could be friends," I announced happily to my older brothers at the counter. I dumped my bag at the front door, grabbing a pop from the fridge and plopping down on one of the stools.

"You saw her?" Cato asked with a sigh. "You know you're not supposed to,"

I shrugged. "It turned out alright,"

"She said we could be friends?" Xander echoed, a happy sort of confusion on his face.

"Well, she said we could be friends," I answered, indicating to myself. "And we both agreed it would take some time,"

Cato nodded slowly. "As long as she feels comfortable,"

"I can't believe you got her to agree to that," Xander shook his head in disbelief.

"She says she misses us," I admitted. "Javi too,"

Xander smiled softly. "Is she doing okay?"

I nodded. "I think so," I told him. "She looked better,"

"That's good," said Cato, sounding relieved. "I'm glad you were able to talk to her,"

"It's progress," I stated proudly.

"You should check in with Felix," Xander murmured to Cato, who nodded.

I looked between the two of them. "Why?" I frowned. "Is something wrong?"

"No," Cato answered. "I've been communicating with Felix to work on keeping the truce intact. He's also been updating me on Amelia, and how she's doing,"

"We should make sure she's really okay about having met with you," Xander explained.

I glared at him. "I just said it went fine. She said we could be friends,"

"It won't hurt to make sure," Cato advised, and I couldn't really argue with him.

I propped my arms up on the counter, leaning against my hand. "I hate having her live with them," I muttered.

Both Cato and Xander hissed at me to shut up. None of the kids were around, but who knows what they were capable of overhearing.

"But yes," Cato agreed. "It sucks,"

"But we're going to respect it," Xander added, raising an eyebrow at me.

I gave him a pointed look. "I am,"

"I know,"

Colton walked into the kitchen, glancing at us as he entered.

"Hey," Cato said suspiciously, wondering if he'd heard us.

"Hey," Colton replied with shrug. He didn't seem indifferent, so he must not have heard. Thank god
