"Humans are not invincible. We are squishy little things that can die at any minute. But we like to pretend we're invincible. It makes us feel better."

Outsider POV
"The guest list has 39 people, including the hosts Cecelia and Ricardo," Leon informed, flipping open the guest book. "Each person signed their name when they entered the house."
"How many bodies were registered?"
"39," Brandon informed, setting a folder down. "Erik was right. He and the others killed everyone. There shouldn't be anyone alive to testify. All 39 bodies were matched to the names and identified."
"The who the fuck are we missing?!" Levi cussed, slamming his hands on the table. "Who the fuck can testify?"
Everyone was quiet, going over the events that replayed on the television through the video cameras before one of them gasped.
"CRAZY GIRL!" Leon yelled, eyes wide as he stood up quickly.
"What? Have you gone insane?" Brandon hissed. "What are you talking about?"
"Remember when we each chose a victim?" Leon asked, flipping through the register book. "And remember how the girl Erik chose became the countdown girl?"
"You don't mean-"
"The person still alive," He muttered, flipping open the files for both parents and pointing to the name registered under both names. "Is her."
♀ Aria POV ♀
"AARON YOU DON'T NEED TO FOLLOW ME TO THE BATHROOM!" I yelled, gesturing wildly.
"My job is to make sure you're safe," Aaron repeated for like the ten millionth time.
"AARON NO ONE IS GOING TO SHOOT ME ON THE WAY TO THE BATHROOM!"
"Aria," He said warningly.
"Okay, just this once. Seriously. I don't want you standing outside the door while I'm bleeding."
"Bleed- Okay I didn't need to know that," Aaron muttered, stopping in his tracks before sighing. "Aria I still have to make sure you're okay."
"YOU WON'T CATCH ME!" I screamed, darting away and slamming the hall door sprinting down and opening and shutting random doors before bursting into the dining hall which was bustling with people.
"M-M-Miss. Aria?"
I turned, seeing a scared-looking maid.
"Oh hey," I waved awkwardly. "Uh… Did Aaron send you here?"
"N-n-no uh… Y-your grandparents they… uh… told me to- to uh- to tell you that you need to… to be in the… The um… upstairs seating room."
"Oh. Okay," I chirped.
Frankly, nothing my grandparents told me to do surprised me anymore. They once sent me out at five in the morning to get crepes for them.
I didn't even know where they sell crepes.
(I ended up buying them a microwave burrito.)
I turned to start walking up the stairs but the maid stopped me again, looking like she was about to cry.
"I'm sorry," She whispered before running away, leaving me staring at her in confusion.
~*~*~*~*~
I entered the seating room, furrowing my eyes and turning on the lights. The large window facing the wall filtered in some light, but turning on the lights made it less creepy.
It was completely empty, the seats surrounding the stage area unoccupied (where my grandparents hosted weekly bingo games that I'm not allowed to like seriously, why can't I play bingo with old people. I want to play bingo. Bingo is the only game I ever play and actually win at- which is sad).
"Hello…?" I whispered, cautiously moving around in the empty seats.
"ARIA!" Aaron yelled, bursting into the room and tackling me to the floor just before I heard something tear through the wall of the room.
"Aaron what's-"
"Shut up and stay down," He hissed, his body covering mine as he grabbed the gun he had holstered and got up to fire one round quickly before crouching back down.
We stayed silent for about five minutes before he motioned for me to crawl towards the ventilation shaft.
"You want me to crawl in that?!" I asked, eyes wide. "Squishy human here. Squishy uncoordinated human here!"
"You want me to knock you unconscious and drag you there?" He hissed back pushing me forward.
"Okay… Yeah… Next time you're coming to the bathroom with me," I muttered, squeezing in the tight space and coughing at the dust. "Oh man, people need to stop trying to kill me. I really don't appreciate it. I'm going to die. I, Aria, the squishy human, is going to die because she saw something she shouldn't have. I didn't even want to see it," I whimpered, crawling on my forearms.
"You idiot," Aaron muttered, crawling in after me.
Outsider POV
"You missed? How did you miss? She was just standing there!"
"I didn't fucking expect her bodyguard to show up!" Leon hissed back.
"We'll deal with her later. Get rid of the maid," Levi ordered, getting up from his place on the roof of the building.
"Sorry sweetie," Leon smiled wrily before pointing a gun to her head, the maid sobbing and shaking her head frantically.
"Thanks for your help."
~*~*~*~*~
The body of a maid was found in the river near a park two weeks later.
The police found no leads.
