Mitsuharu's words bounce around the room, a vacuum of noise lingering in the air, never quite absorbing into my brain.
There's no way. It isn't possible.
Kuroko turns on her heels, her hands clasped together. A smile still on her face. Her warm, radiant smile, so much life behind her crystal eyes, "S-sorry? Did you say my name?"

I don't want to believe it, it seems entirely impossible. A gentle giant - perhaps the first words I think of when I hear the name Kuroko Eto. Though tall and almost mighty looking, her kind soul had warmed me inside. Warmed everyone inside. The girl who made offhand comments that seemed almost too stupid to be genuine.
And she killed two people.
"I think you heard me, Kuroko," Mitsuharu says, tone flat and unamused, "I'm saying you're the killer, going off this order."
"Huh?" Kohi looks puzzled, "N-no. No way. Kuroko didn't do this. We must have got the order wrong."
Aki's eye widens, glimmering in the beams of sunlight shining down upon the trial circle. Her mouth is gaped open as if someone stuck a wood block in her jaw, "Kuroko?"
"Don't believe me?" Mitsuharu flicks on Kuroko's handbook, displaying her information, "Kuroko is the 6th oldest classmate here. Her birthday is March 2nd, which is the next coming after Kihona's. It isn't the strongest proof but it's our most likely option."
"N-no!" Kuroko says, a slight giggle in her voice. A nervous giggle, "You've got it all wrong. Surely there must be a mistake?"

She's faltering, yet she's composed - a reaction anyone would expect after being blamed for a murder.
"I agree," Aki nods, her voice suddenly much more prominent. So much more vocal after Kuroko's accusation, "We must'a made an oopsie. Should we go again?"
"I mean," Ayana ponders, "It lines up pretty well. Exactly, even."
Kaso smirks again, "Heh. Could just be a coincidence though, right?"
Kuroko nods, slowly becoming more and more frantic, "Y-yeah! It has to be! There's no way I'd kill someone, right?"
"Right," Aki says with an affirmative nod, "C'mon, let's find another way."

But it all makes sense. It feels almost too right.
I can't help but remember when Kuroko lashed out at Kaso, when he acted selfishly and she swiped at him. Her sweet, angelic face - perhaps it isn't so pure after all.

Kuroko's trembling, holding her arms to her chest as she tries to keep herself upright. Cold sweat forms on her forehead, her pale face now even more ghostly.

"I don't think it's entirely unlikely," I shrug, "We've seen how she acts under pressure. And Amai was never particularly kind to her."
"What about Mamo, though?" Daiki says, raising an eyebrow, "Why would she kill him?"
"Maybe she was just really messed up..." Ayana says.
"H-huh?" Kuroko tilts her head, her glasses skewing off centre, "N-no! I'd never do that to Mamo!"

"You bitch!" Shiro screams, grabbing the top of his podium. His nails scratch at the polished marble, ready to unleash his claws, "You deceiving, calculating bitch! You won't get away with this."
Tears begin to spill from Shiro's eyes, "I can't believe you'd do this. You killed Mamo! You good-for-nothing murdering fiend!"
Kuroko shakes her head, golden locks bouncing with her erratic movements, "N-no. You got it all wrong, I swear! I'd never kill Mamo."
"Prove it," Mitsuharu glares at her, "Sure, our evidence isn't entirely reliable. But it's our only option unless you have proof."
She whimpers, her eyes brimming with tears. Her lip quivers as she stares off into the ocean beyond the glass walls. Thinking.
"Kuroko?" Aki's voice falters, her gaze following Kuroko's, "Are you in there?"
