.01. Realisations

My eyes are heavy, and I am still drowsy from the sudden wake,

my body feels lighter, did i have a nightmare?

I pounded on my own question for a while, still in my thoughts that never lasted because of a faint knock on my door,

how long has it been?

" may I come in milady?" followed by the faint knock, a woman's voice called out.

me? my lady?

startled, I woke up suddenly, the door opening on its own, showing a bigger figure, revealing a face I've never seen before. The woman with red hair tied in a bun, the bright brown eyes complimented the small amount of freckles present on her face,

she stood at the door looking at my smaller figure, as if I was some defenseless cat left alone in the outskirts of the town.

"what do you mean?" I asked, still dazed at the scenery that I'm not used to seeing every morning, rather than my average room in Korea, this room looked quite fancy.

the queen sized bed that looks as if it had been polished recently, the huge golden-blue curtains hanging along the window walls, the navy blue-golden carpet that laid on the floor, the room itself was huge and the design was magnificent.

Fufu! did they perhaps mistake me for a foreign princess?

I laughed at my own obliviousness, but the maids concerned face never left her face.

"my lady do you not remember? today is your eleventh birthday!" she chimed, with a brighter face this time.

but my thoughts lingered for a moment,

eleventh?....I WAS SUPPOSED TO TURN EIGHTEEN!

in a moment of shock, i raised my hands to only see tiny hands in front of me,

I panicked, i quickly got out of bed and went towards my dresser which had a huge mirror.

"my lady!"

i looked in the mirror, a frown forming on my face, the girl standing in-front of me was not Choo-Hee, the girl with blonde curly hair, bright blue eyes and white fair skin that could be mistaken as pale, she was cute, unlike the plain Choo-Hee, she looked different.

"my lady?"

the sudden realization made me silent,

what is the meaning of this, hadn't i died? the memory is still vivid in my mind,

a dream perhaps? but it felt so real...

the stomach pain i endured due to being left with hunger in the dark room, the shivering that never seemed to stop because of the cold and most importantly the chopping feeling that was left on my neck, it was too real to be just a dream, i could tell with my still pounding heart and shallow breaths

"tell me where are we right now?" i asked, still looking at the girl standing in the mirror,

"The Castina empire of-course!" her voice was low but i heard it like loud like day,

"what's your name." this time, it was more like a demand than a question. at this time

I was getting anxious,

"...Lila...my lady?" her slight hesitation made me cautious of my next move,

"then won't you address me by my full name, Lila?" this time i turned to the figure bowing in-front of me, making sure to not raise suspicions, i took out a more careful move. i need to know the owner of the body i had possessed without raising suspicions from the maid

she won't get doubtful if i ask her this way right?

"of-course, lady Estelle Vaste Castillo" she bowed deeper, "daughter of archduke Vaste Castillo".

i raised my brows to the sudden piece of information,

Castillo, as in, archduke Castillo...but if that's the case then

i was reincarnated in the abandoned Empress!

I touched my face one last time, making sure i wasn't dreaming

a smile rose to my face, only making the red haired maid slightly intrigued, i could see the the small sweat forming on her forehead just now.

if my memories aren't deceiving me, Lila was a mother figure to Estelle so it would be bad if she felt tense being around her

"then Lila, won't you wish me a happy birthday?" i smiled this time,

the maids flushed face was an unexpected reaction, even-though i knew the reason behind it very well, i still left my plastered smile on my face.

"Happy Birthday my lady!"

But...

This is not what i had wished for...

Back then...

I remember now.
