We are looking at the same stars

From dawn till dusk, I see the brilliant light,
the sun a pillar of radiant warmth,
yet distant and harsh,
harsh not because of his beauty so bright,
but rather his distance more significant than the ides of march.

His beams of warmth I doubtlessly feel,
but feel and touch are vastly unequal,
as the crusaders looked upon the heavens for a sign to kneel,
I too look upon the starry night,
longing for the first glimmer of light,
so tranquil.

Alas, when the sun shines,
it is as if he speaks to me,
only to be met with pain as I wonder,
when will he reach out next?
Will it be weeks, or maybe, is our unseen bond a familiarity that cannot be tenured?

And so I lie, eyes dreary but mind racing
Finding comfort in the fact that some friendship cannot be broken by miles,
I prepare for another long, sunny day, in hopes that my efforts will bring me one day closer to the sun.

Anyway, that's the end of my melodious singing,
and I look through the window, waving at you.
We are looking at the same stars,
I'm watching you
I see you.
