A/N: Happy Easter Everyone!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ponyboy's POV
Dark, cold, loud and alone.
That's all I remembered from a nightmare that caused me to wake up in a cold sweat.
I was alone in Darry's bed. I didn't even try to go to sleep in my own bed last night because I knew I would have another nightmare. The sun was shining through the window, telling me my nightmare held off a lot longer than normal.
It was the first day of summer break, probably why Darry let me sleep in so late. Even in the summer he likes me to be up before nine or else he thinks I slept the day away.
I dragged myself out of bed, with nothing more than my underwear and an oversized t-shirt on. I was hoping that Darry would be watching TV or something and I could go cuddle with him, and he was, but cuddling didn't seem like an option.
Everyone was here, they were all playing cards, with the TV playing Mickey behind them. Darry was sitting in his chair, reading the newspaper. I'm not sure how I slept so long with how loud they were being.
"Morning sleeping beauty!" Two-Bit laughed when he saw me.
"Someone must have slept good, huh?" Darry smiled and looked up from his paper.
I just shrugged and walked over to him, leaning against the chair. I wanted to jump on his lap but that wouldn't look very tuff in front of the guys.
"We're starting a new round, jump in." Soda said and began dealing out cards for me.
"'m good. I'll just watch." I muttered.
Soda shot me a disappointed look but went back to the game. "Come on Pony, we're playing Bullshit, your favorite." Johnny waved me over but again I just shrugged.
"You okay little buddy?" Darry whispered as he pushed my hair out of my face. It really was getting long, all of ours were.
"Yeah." I shook my head like a puppy so my hair would fall back to cover my face.
"There's some muffins in the kitchen, how bout you go get some." I could tell by his voice that he was concerned but I bet he didn't want to say anything in front of the gang. I was kinda concerned too. I needed these damn nightmares to go away, or at least for me to be okay after them.
"What about chocolate cake?" I smirked and Darry playfully rolled his eyes.
"No." He laughed a bit. We were getting along surprisingly well lately. I just hoped he would stay in this mood and not go back to strict unreasonable Darry.
I shot him my puppy dog eyes and leaned my head against the chair headrest. "But muffins are basically cake. It's the same thing."
"Minus the sugary frosting." He patted my butt twice and then pointed towards the kitchen.
I stuck my tongue out at him with a giggle and went to fetch one. They were cold and plain, clearly Darry made them because Soda would have loaded them up with chocolate chips and sprinkles.
On the counter next to the plate of muffins there was a large stack of bills, and a piece of paper beside them. It had a random phone number scribbled on it with an out of state zip code. There was a dash and then the words Bootsie and Coffeyville.
I quickly copied the note onto a different piece of paper and then stuck it under the knife block. I'd go to the library and look everything up later.
It's not that I didn't trust Darry, because I did. But with everything that happened, and Soda constantly questioning everything he does, I guess I've become more suspicious.
