When Kodiak left, none of them expected him to come back covered in blood or with severe burns on his face. None of the blood was his own, thankfully, it was all mortal. But that begged the question, how did Kodiak play his game? Were injuries like this normal?

Cobalt thought about all of this as he gently treated the burns on the small ghost's face. Some human must have grabbed him with a handful of holy silver. Iron didn't burn this bad. Apparently he'd retreated to his origin setting, and his mentor and Ramsey had gone to fetch him, but only Maci could make it through his aura. Which Cobalt didn't really doubt, Maci was like a tiny, pastel battering ram with some ribbons on.

Kallik had helped him get Kodiak out of the bloodstained clothes and change him into a clean pair of clothes from his own closet, which Kallik distastefully noted was far too bare and made plans for a department store trip in the future.

Faust had tried to hover but eventually left, but only reluctantly, as Cobalt badgered him into getting some rest. That, and he didn't want the big guy to see the full extent of the injuries, just in case.

Throwing away the cotton ball he'd been using to clean and disinfect, Cobalt picked up the bandages. Varick had been called away from a meeting when his charge vanished, and had left to go wrap it up, but made it clear he was coming back when he was done, but hopefully they could avoid notifying Bloody Mary. There was no real telling what she would do, but her reaction would be nothing short of nightmarish.

With a small sigh, he finished bandaging and patted Kodiak's shoulder gently. Seemed like the poor thing couldn't quite catch a break. Stripping off the latex gloves, he left Kodiak to sleep it off in the sick ward and exited the room, dimming the light as he left. Kallik was waiting outside.

"So?"

"He'll recover just fine, maybe a little bit of scarring. It seems like only brief contact was made, so thank goodness for that, he's just going to have to take it easy for a while." Cobalt explained. "Is Varick back?"

"No," she said, leaning against the walls with her arms crossed, "He said he can't be in until after dawn, but he's going to come as quickly as he can."

Cobalt raised his eyebrows, "Tomorrow morning's still pretty fast."

Kallik chuckled. "Yeah, but he's very attached to the little nightmare, and I can see why. He's a frowny little stick-in-the-mud, but there's... some kind of charm to it, I think."
