This Ain't Just Newsies No More ~ Sprace & Javid

Hi!!!! :)

Some of you may know me from my other Sprace story that I wrote called Coma. Apparently people like it, so maybe check that out too!

Except this isn't that story. This is a story that I wanted to write for awhile, and now I have a Wattpad account, and my first story was a success (I think?????) so here we go.

Instead of diving right in to this one though, I wanted to have a longer author's note.

A long author's note?! Yeah yeah I know some of you won't like me for this. I just wanna say some few important (well, major) key things before heading right in. So... enjoy! :)

(If you read this when I have more parts of the story up, please feel free to briefly skim this or just skip it entirely. You won't hurt my feelings too much.)

I love Newsies. I know many of you do too, or else why would you have clicked on this story in the first place? And if you've never watched/heard of Newsies, then get out of here and watch the movie/musical ASAP! Back to me loving Newsies. Honestly I only first watched that movie like a little over an actual year ago. It was early March 2020 and we were still in school, and my last day of in person school was Thursday, March 12, 2020 so yeah I've had a year of getting obsessed with Newsies and woah did I get obsessed quickly. I love the story, the characters, the MUSIC, and I could go on.

However...

I don't own Newsies. That would be awesome, but I don't, it's Disney, and some may laugh that I say that I don't own Newsies but I love giving credit where credit is due and I don't want my story taken down, so, yeah!

And...

PLEASE no movie/musical which is better controversy. I'm gonna admit, I've only watched a couple clips of the musical. It looks good! Seeing them on an actual stage with lights on them with an actual audience makes my thespian heart ache so much. I've seen the movie...I don't know how many times in the past year. A lot. I have a greater dedication to movie because a) I saw it first, b) I'm attracted to things others threw away (WHAT THE HECK AUDIENCES OF 1992), c) the cast and how the portray the characters, d) the Javid and Sprace is real, e) King of New York. So please. I don't want people to go on a rant of how good the musical is and how bad the movie is. If you feel so inclined to throw in your opinion, Politely say your opinion such as "I liked the movie" or "I like both" or "I like the musical" or "I legit have no preference" or "I prefer (blank) over (blank)" and move on with life but totally beating up one or the other isn't gonna stop the hate running deep in this world.  

I think this is going to be a long story. I have part of it planned. I have the beginning-beginning so-so planned out, the post-beginning barely planned out, the post-strike meh planned out, the juicy Sprace mid-story COVERED, the actual plot I started with planned out, post actual plot sorta but has gone through many rewrites, with no definite ending yet. I pretty much started thinking this story would be Javid first and Sprace second, but then I went on a full Sprace hyperfocus and yeah Javid is up there and main but Sprace just kinda skyrocketed so Sprace you're welcome, sorry Javid, and dear Blush I love you too!

I will try my hardest to work Crutchie into the story. Literally everyone can agree that Crutchie is a cinnamon roll. But in my drafts...I legit have very little Crutchie and it's bugging me. I promise I will put him in more than I originally planned.

Is it obvious that I type my thoughts and love behind-the-scenes stuff?????

This is going to be very very gay. You're welcome! :) I don't know if there is any straight in it. I mean, there are the adults, but from the main perspectives, it's all gays and queers and disaster bisexuals. (Disaster bisexuals LET ME KNOW WHERE YOU'RE AT! :) ). And also those who don't like labels. But yeah, we have Spot/Race, Jack/David, and Kid Blink/Mush. Whoever watches any version of Newsies and goes "oh yeah, they are totally straight" has got to be doing some crazy mental gymnastics. I mean, seriously.

I am very clean-minded. And ace. So don't expect any icky stuff. I don't do cusses or immature language either. So don't expect any of that from me. (I'm older than 13 I promise)

I'm gonna write partially about the events of the strike. It helps the story get going, you know? And I need to write stuff in there to make it slightly (or not so slightly) more gay than it was before. And before? Javid was as close to actual canon as possible. Christian Bale: "The story is about the strike, but it truly is about Jack and David's friendship." I forget where I saw that or if I am in fact quoting it word for word but he did say that, so there. Anyway, I'll focus more about AFTER the strike because that's where the good stuff happens. ;)

I love playing with relationship dynamics. Not all of these are romantic. Some of them are, yes, like the main Jack and David, and Spot and Race. Oh, and Kid Blink and Mush. But there's also going to be a lot of platonic bonds that are just as special, between Jack and Spot, Jack and Race, Race and David, David and Spot; as well as Race and Blink, and Race and Mush. And more, probably. I just really think that there are different dynamics that I can really play around with. It's going to be fun! :)

I won't know what I'm talking about at times. For one, I wasn't alive in 1899. So historical accuracy is aimed for but may not be reached. For another, I'm gonna really play off of back-then homophobia (I know it's sad :(((  ) and off of Race's Italian heritage and I know back then it was kinda really bad situation. Of course, I don't know if I'm going to overdo or not give enough justice to some of these. So, even though I know some things, I'm not a full on expert, so don't expect my word to be truth, but also I'm not getting these ideas from no where. Please tell me if I get something extremely wrong. I wanna learn. And then maybe everyone can learn.

I have another Newsies story going on in my mind. Yep! So if you liked this one and/or Coma, or you got bored with either of them, well, hopefully you like this next one! I'm going to finish this one first before starting it. It's gonna be completely different than these two. Why do I like changing my writing style with every story I write? I really don't know. Anyway, I kinda side-developed it alongside this one so it is sorta developed but I won't give details about it until later ;)

I write other fandoms as well. I have a wide interest in fandoms. So far, I'm only writing Newsies and Marvel, so if you'd like to see what I do for Marvel try checking out the story I have already (It's a ThorBruce story---now is not the time to get controversial on Marvel ships). I will write more fandoms and more ships, it's just a matter of time.

Updates will be inconsistent. Sometimes I'll upload one chapter in a day or three chapters. Sometimes it may be a week since I last updated. I won't abandon this story. I promise you that. I may be busy, or finishing up school work, but weekend and days I'm remote I'll do what I can. If I can carry on into summer is unclear, but still. I'll do what I can to complete this story. 

See any grammatical, spelling, historically inaccurate, culturally inaccurate, etc. details? Tell me!

Please someone comment. I know what it's like to stare at a first page of a story without any comments it's like .... but also if you comment we can talk about how much we love Newsies and other relatable stuff together :)

Have I read too many Mental Floss articles? Yes, yes I have. Did those maybe inspire this format? Yes, I think so. Am I gonna change it? No, no I am not. Should I stop this short thingy that I'm doing right now? Probably.
