Yeah. You know EXACTLY what's gonna happen. Also finally Spot's perspective! I'm still gonna include the Seize the Day chorale because a) I like it and b) I can, so. The gay is strong today. Enjoy! :)

Open the gates and seize the day,

Don't be afraid and don't delay.

Nothing can break us,

no one can make us,

Give our rights away...

All rise and seize the day.

Spot paces in Brooklyn, just below his perch area. He can't stop thinking about Race coming to him the night before.

Well, actually, he can't stop thinking about Race.

Spot thinks about Race coming after he turned away Jack and David/the Walkin' Mouth/Obviously In Love With Jack, trying to convince him to come join the strike even after he said no. He thinks about playing cards with Race in an alleyway and Race's face lighting up when he saw what was happening; and his instinct to make Race happier after he had a bad day at Sheepshead Bay.  He thinks about watching Race go into Sheepshead nearly daily, and missing that because of the strike taking up Race's time.

He thinks about the first time he saw Race. When they were ten. Five years ago. They've changed since then, but in so many ways some things stay the same.

I need to stop thinking about Race, Spot tells himself. Think about if we'll actually join the strike.

Race said they were going to do something big today.

So let's go see if he's kept his word.

"NEWSIES!" Spot shouts. All of them turn to look at him. He faces the direction of Manhattan. Where Race is. He raises his fist with the cane in it. "TO MANHATTAN!"

--------

There's a lot of shouting. As in, a lot of shouting.

Spot signals his newsies to start climbing the buildings. That way they can see what's happening inside--and if they should in fact join in the action.

Once up top, Spot can see all of the Manhattan newsies being attacked by the scabbers and goons, and they were fighting back. He smiles. They're showing me.

Spot jumps down on one of the little balconies with two of his newsies. For everyone to hear, he declares, "Nevah fear, Brooklyn is here."

"It's Brooklyn!" one of the newsies, Mush, shouts.

Jack sees Spot and grins. Spot smiles back at all of them. He focuses on a few scabbers. He and the Brooklyn newsies shoot at them with their sling shots and marbles.

There's one newsie ducking down right now, and Spot makes sure to hit that scabber right in the head. He smiles and gives himself a little nod of satisfaction when he has a spot-on shot. Then the newsie pops back up.

That's when he sees that it's Race and Race sees him.

Race's wide, deep, beautiful brown eyes look up at him and shine with surprise, happiness, relief, and more.

Spot's heart just...

He shakes his head as if to clear it. Focus. He swings down on a rope and takes out more scabbers as he goes. He and Jack spit into their hands and shake.
