3rd person pov

"this week, as you know, you'll have a history project. you must study one avatar, and base your project off of them. you'll be doing it in groups of two."

the students grinned, glancing at their friends.

"BUT! i will be choosing your partners." mr. jeong jeong said, earning groans from every corner of the classroom.

"first, we have jet and mai."

"and then, toph and teo."

"katara and ty lee."

"....lastly, aang and meng."

you could practically see the smoke coming out of katara's ears as she watched meng walk over and sit a bit too close to aang.

everyone and their mom knows that meng has had the biggest crush on him since forever. and that she was extremely envious of katara when the two got together.

"oh! hey, aangy~"

"i told you to stop calling me that." he said, pushing her away.

"what? it's a cute nickname. not as cute as youu though~" she said, twirling a strand of her hair.

"i have a girlfriend, meng. stop it."

"why would you need that little brat? you're too good for her."

katara had enough.

"aang?" she asked him, walking over to him.

"yea, sweetie? what is it?"

from behind aang, meng flipped katara off as if that'd have an effect on her.

"me and ty lee are having a little trouble figuring out what avatar to do. could you help us decide?" she smiled innocently, more at meng than aang.

"okay. meng, i'll be right back."

they walked back to katara's desk. ty lee wasn't there. she had gone to ask the teacher for help.

"so you said you needed help with choosing an avatar, right?"

she nodded.

"do you have any options?"

"well i had chosen kuruk, and ty lee chose yangchen but we couldn't decide."

she was lying. they had already decided on kuruk, but she needed to get him away from meng.

"in my opinion, doing yangchen would be a little cliche. everyone knows her as one of the best avatars to have ever lived."

katara finished the statement, "but she made a lot of mistakes. and kuruk had to pay the price for said mistakes. she neglected the spirits, making them angry. kuruk spent a lot of his life trying to fight off the dark spirits she involuntarily made."

"not a lot of people even know that." he said. "he took the fall and became known as one of the laziest avatars. but he kept those secrets, in an effort to not tarnish yangchen's perfect image. i honestly think you should choose him. i don't know where you'd find info on him, though."

"what do you think?" aang asked her.

"well, i think that that was a lovely little conversation you were having earlier, don't you think?" she fake laughed.

"what are you talking about?"

"you think i didn't overhear what you guys said?"

"what ar- wait. were you eavesdropping on us?" he asked, narrowing his eyes at her.

"n-no." she looked away.

"i wasn't even doing anything, it was her. if anything, i was defending you! why do you suddenly care so much?"

she fake gasped. "wow, don't know where you got that idea. who told you i cared?"

"do whatever you want. i don't care, i don't care." she pushed him away.

he stood there, mouth agape, watching as she stuck her chin out and crossed her arms stubbornly. he sighed and sulked back to his desk.

ty lee had came back from talking to mr. jeong jeong, looking between an irritated katara and an upset aang.

"don't you think you're acting a bit overprotective, kat?"

"it's not called 'overprotective.' it's called being cautious."

as katara waited under the tree in the front of the school with most of the gaang, she waited for her beloved boyfriend.

ahe saw him walk out, but with that bitch following right behind him.

meng attempted to kiss his cheek. ahe was a centimeter away before he pushed her off and ran.

aang made his way to the gaang and tried to give katara a kiss but she moved, making him kiss the tree.

"why don't you go kiss your new little girlfriend?"

"come on, kat. i thought we talked about this."

"um. i have no idea what you're talking about." she said stubbornly.

the rest of the gaang noticed the tension.

"ding! WoAH! would you look at thAT! uncle wants me and azula home early. zula, come on." zuko said, grabbing her hand and running.

ty lee nervously said, "wait up! we're coming too!" pulling mai.

"well, i have to get ready for...an earth rumble match! yea.." toph said.

she asked the 5 remaining people, "you guys are coming right? bumi, i know how much you love these fights."

"hell yea. come on, kuzon." bumi said, walking away with toph, suki, sokka and kuzon.

aang sat down. "sweetie, what's gotten into you? you've never been the jealous type before."

"well, i'm sorry that i get frustrated watching some whore try to flirt with my man."

"kat! meng is...many things...but don't call her that. i'm serious."

"why shouldn't I?" she thought. saying that would cause a bigger argument, though.

she exhaled and sank down, contemplating what to do.

katara sighed. "i'm still furious at meng, but i could never stay mad at you."

"there's the katara i know."
