As they finished up their little snack, the front door opened. An older man about 45 walked in.
"Oh Hey Max" Mae greeted
"Hey Mae" Max noticed Demetrius
"Oh we have a guest?"
"Oh sorry this is Demetrius, I accidentally bumped into him and spilled hot coffee on his shirt while coming to work." She giggles
"So I'm cleaning it for him in the back and repaying him for the coffee"
"Oh okay haha, Hello my name is Max Scottfield. I'm the shops baker, nice to meet you"
Max came closer to shake Demetrius' hand so he got up and did the same.
"Nice to meet you I'm Demetrius Salvador"
"Demetrius... Salvador?"
"..Yes" Demetrius said confusingly then remembering the reality of his life. He wasn't a celebrity but his family was pretty well known and if anyone who was into the business world would definitely know who he was. Which he thought to himself Mae was not part of but Max was.
"Aren't you?... never mind, I hope your not too upset, but Mae makes the best hot drinks. So there's a little fortune to this unfortunate event. Well I'll be in the back getting things ready for the shop, nice meeting you Mr. Salvador" Max said with a smile walked to the back of the store. Mae looked at her watch
"Oh wow look at the time, it's almost 8 almost time to open. I also think your shirt is done"
Demetrius also looked at his watch. Shit I can't believe I've been here for so long. It's like this place freezes time, Demetrius thought to himself. Mae collected their plates and put it into the sink, then they walked back to the laundry room and got out his shirt.
"Nice and clean" Mae said giving the dress shirt to him.
"Thank you" Demetrius said mono-toned
Mae turned around and Demetrius wore back his long sleeves. The stain actually came out, like it was never there.
" Good as new" Mae smiled
"You can head to the front of the shop, return the art shirt"
As I walked to the front of the store I took another little tour and noticed the photography on the wall. They were beautiful black and white film shots, very detailed and stunning.
" This is really good." Demetrius said to himself.
Mae back from talking to Max saw heard what he said and replied.
"Why thank you, I shot that about a years ago."
"Oh" Demetrius said nonchalantly
"haha wow, since I made it you've changing your tone." Mae smirked playing with her necklace. It was a simple necklace. Rose gold, with tiny golden antlers. It looked like she has a habit of playing with it from time to time. Demetrius realized he was staring at her for too long. He quickly looked away.
"Well I should be going, seems like more staff are coming in, and I should of been back from work awhile ago."
"Well it was nice meeting you...sir" Mae smirked
"Anytime you're back in town feel free to stop by. I packed a couple of small cakes and cookies for you fellow workers to enjoy." Mae handed him the bag.
"You didn't have to... And I don't live here anymore, This is not a place I come often."
"Well you never know, life is full of surprises"
Demetrius was looking at her again, something about her seemed different than other people. He just couldn't quite pin point it, but oddly attracted him, intrigued him. He knew he was too old for her and he wasn't those perverted creeps that thought about young girls. He knew the little lady was beautiful anyone could notice that, but she was kind hearted and a gentle person. Someone Demetrius always stood away from.
He left the quaint shop and drove back to his reality.
