Y/N's POV
It's been three days since we went to the plant and I've started feeling better.
I can finally focus, particularly on one thing.
The code written on the white board.
I spent the whole morning trying to figure it out.
It was actually quite fun, made me miss my job.

If Doggy was there, we would've figured it out together.
It would've been rather simple, we made a great team.
But I could decode things on my own.

We've all stayed in The Safe Place for the past few days.
Mimi has been teaching Zee, Zuzy and Georgie how to make a hypothesis.
Giraffy and Poley have been doing the gardening together.
Zizzy and Pony seem to be really close, they were very obviously in love.
I was mainly focusing on dealing with my head trauma.

The whole week continued like this.
Aside from Zuzy's whining and occasional screaming about how she doesn't like class time and Zizzy shouting back at her to listen to Mimi, everything was rather calm and we were all doing well.
Poley hated the screaming and shouting, and he'd take me outside to the street whenever it happened.
He said he didn't want it to hurt my brain more because I was already injured, but truth be told, he just didn't want to be alone.
Nobody realized it, and I just told him to stop being stupid.
In Pony's words, "It'd hurt her ears, not her head."
I'll start counting the days from here on out:

Day 1
Mimi, Pony, Giraffy and Poley left to go look for other survivors.
This left Zizzy and I alone with the kids.
I cleaned the place, and cooked while Zizzy babysat.
At lunch, Georgie almost vomited while eating his carrots because of how much he hated them.
But, he swallowed them anyways.
Zee spent the rest of day convincing Zuzy that it was very brave of Georgie to do that.
Zuzy said it was a bad idea, because everyone would have lost their appetite if Georgie threw up.
Zee won.

Day 2
Poley and the rest haven't returned, and it's starting to worry me.
Zizzy assured me that they were fine.
She said her and Pony spent weeks out in order to find survivors.
The thought of Poley being out for weeks caused me to be extremely anxious.
Not hearing about him for that long. What if something happened?
I'd pace around the street for hours after the kids fell asleep.

Day 7
Nothing interesting happened the past 5 days.
All of them went by like the first two.
This day, however, Zizzy offered to teach me how to use her sword.
I agreed since I needed some kind of stress reliever and she was going to teach the kids anyways.

We had a ton of fun learning.
Zuzy was by far the best out of us four.
It felt a little embarrassing to be outdone by a twelve year old, but she had more experience than me so it made sense.
Zizzy cooked that day, and I babysat in the meantime.
We mainly played tag until the food was ready.
It felt very nice to relax for the first time in a week.

Poley's POV
Day 14
Pony, Mimi, Giraffy and I hadn't gone home for 2 weeks.
I was a little worried about Y/N.
I could only hope that she was recovering fast and that the Safe Place stayed safe.

We slept in a small tent we found at a camping store.
We also found a very strong grappling hook, a toolset and some pans.

"Poley, since you knew Y/N before the infection, I want to ask you something," Pony said while we all laid down.
"What is it?" I was curious.
"Who's this Doggy she hallucinated about at the plant?" Pony asked.
"Doggy was her police partner, and a very close friend of ours," I answered.
"What was he like?" Giraffy entered the conversation.
"He was smart, kind, loyal, patient, and Y/N also thought handsome," I told them.

"Really? Did she maybe...?" Mimi started.
"Yes, she did. I swear he liked her back, but neither of them wanted me to tell the other," I stated.
"I hope she got to confess," Pony wished.
"She did, although a little late," I sighed.
"Late?" Giraffy sounded a little confused.
"The night he got infected," I informed him.
"Poor them," Mimi expressed her sympathy.
"Sometimes it's the way life goes. At least Y/N is alive now. She can get through it, I know my best friend," I smiled.

"I'm sorry for your loss, Poley," Giraffy said.
"It's okay," I told him, "It's awful to lose someone so close to me, but by the end I still have hope. Given the way this all started, maybe one day someone can find a cure."
"You're right," Pony sounded hopeful.

We decided to go back the next morning shortly after that.
