Y/N's POV
We arrived at the Lab, as Kaelan and Cody call it.
"Dad!" a little girl called.
"Cassie!" Cody hugged her.
Didn't know he was a dad.
Then again, I just met him.

Cody said "This is my daughter, Cassie. Cassie, these are Pony, Mimi, Giraffy, Poley, Y/N, Zee, Zuzy and—"
"Georgie!" she exclaimed.
"Hi, Cassie!" Georgie waved, "We went to school together."
"You didn't remember Georgie?" Cassie looked at her dad.
"Not really," he admitted.
Kaelan giggled, and Cody rolled his eyes.

"Where's your father?" Cody asked his daughter.
"Aren't you her dad?" Pony questioned.
"I'm gay," Cody replied.
"Oh."

"He's sleeping," Cassie smiled.
"And Ms.AntiSocial?" Cody pet her head.
"Over there," Cassie pointed at a door.
"Alright then, I'll let her know there's more people who'll live with us," Cody stated as he entered the room.
Kaelan went after him, "Make yourselves at home; just don't grab any food from the fridge. We need to ration."

"Cassie, Zee, Zuzy, let's play to together," Georgie suggested.
"Yeah!" the girls shouted in unison.
Mimi, Poley and I sat on a couch.
I offered him my place, but he turned it down.
Pony just stood up and watched the kids.
The four of us talked while Pony remained silent and the kids played.
Quite a while went on like this.

"Mr.Poley, Ms.Y/N, you have very nice police costumes!" Cassie complimented us out of the blue.
I was a little surprised.
"These are our uniforms.." Poley told her.
"You're police officers? That's really cool!" she smiled.
"Thank you," Poley and I answered.
Pony giggled slightly.
"Finally cheering up?" Mimi turned to him.
"I'm just not sure if we can trust them.." he started.

The door opened.
"Erika, stop being so anti social and go talk to our roommates!" Kaelan pulled a hedgehog out into our room.
"Eri?" Poley jumped out.
"Poley? And Y/N?" she said, surprised.
"You know each other?" Pony asked.
"We're coworkers," Erika stated.
"And friends. Also her and Poley are in love with each o—" I smirked.
"Can it, Y/N!" they both shouted.
"So, they're in love, and I'm their friend," I continued.
"Do I have to bring up Doggy to get you to shut up!?" Erika impatiently said.

"Can we all call you Eri?" Giraffe asked, trying to switch the topic.
"No, only Poley and Y/N can do that. Just because we're friends," she immediately responded.
"That's a miracle," Cody joked. He's kind of right, Erika just seems to hate everyone on the planet somedays.

"Where's Cody?" Pony asked.
"He went to sleep," Kaelan answered.
"Speaking of sleep, the kids should probably get some," Poley mentioned.
"They should," Mimi agreed.
"But, this is the first time I've seen Georgie in ages!" Cassie protested.
"I want to play with Cassie," Georgie complained.
"We just made a new friend!" Zuzy whined.

"Well, since you get along already, why not share a room for tonight? We need to pull the mattresses out of the basement tomorrow," Kaelan commented.
"Sure," they said.
"We have a spare room, and I've got an extra bed in mine," Kaelan continued.
"If I have to share a room, I'm sharing it with Poley and Y/N. I don't like anyone else in this room," Erika immediately declared.
"By the way, don't take anything Eri says personally. She's just like that," Poley warned.
"Right..." Pony grumbled.
"So, they're both constantly in a bad mood?" Kaelan asked about Pony.
"No, I think he just needs some sleep," Giraffy replied.
"Alright then, let me show you guys the guest room," Kaelan smiled.

"I'll share with Poley and Y/N," Eri offered.
Poley blushed.
"Really?" I asked.
"Well, given how many people there are, we have to share and you're the only two people I know and therefore don't dislike," she explained.
"So, do you dislike everyone you meet?" Mimi asked, somewhat confused.
"Until I get to know them, yes," Eri stated.
"Yikes," I heard Giraffy whisper.

"There's an extra bed in my room, and only one in the guest room. Who wants to come with me?" Kaelan questioned.
"I'll go," Mimi volunteered.
"Alright then. We have a spare room, but it's empty. We'll organize properly tomorrow," Kaelan told us, "Now, off to bed, kids. You can play tomorrow."
"But, K! It's not fair," Cassie protested.
"Should I call your dads?"
"Fine, let's go guys. We'll sleep in my room," Cassie stood up.
The rest of the children followed after her, talking.
We all went to the room we'd stay in for the night.

"Hey, Detective, is everything alright? You were really quiet after I mentioned Doggy," Erika asked, sitting next to me on her bed.
"He's infected," I sighed.
"Oh.." she looked away for a moment.
Poley sat down next to us and hugged me.
"Well, I've got good news. There's a cure," Erika smiled.
"Wait, really?" Poley asked.
"Yes, we're in the process of distributing the thing. We can save Doggy," she kept going, "He's going to be okay, Y/N. I promise."
I hugged Eri's arm. I've been pricked enough times to know better than to touch her back.
"I doubt they'll be enough space for all of us," I joked.
"We'll have to figure that out later. Also, we found an old, abandoned building. Don't think we aren't trying to restore those," Eri said.
"Sounds like a lot for four people, well five if you count Cassie," Poley stated.
"There's a lot of survivors. We all kinda know each other," she told us.
"That's great to hear," I smiled, "But for now, I think we should get some sleep."
