FRED DID NOT EXPECT to be tackled into a hug by Cassie when he went to meet her in the library after returning to school from the holidays. Yet here he was, hugging his petite friend for at least five minutes now. He wanted to ask if she was fine but she seemed comfortable in the position they were in, so Fred decided against voicing anything.

A minute later, Cassie pulled away and looked up at her ginger friend and smiled sadly.

"I missed you," she said softly, letting go of his embrace and taking a seat on the chair. These three words meant a lot to Fred, for his heart immediately began fluttering. Yet he continued to convince himself that he was not crushing on the girl in front of him.

"I missed you too," he replied with a soft smile. He was going to ask how the holidays were and why she hadn't responded to any of his letters when Cassie began with a sigh, answering his unsaid question.

"Of all the Christmas's I've had in my 13 years of existence, this one was by far the worst,"

This made Fred take a sharp breath in.

"Yeah. Sorry, I couldn't respond to your letter,"

"Letters" he corrected, looking at the books piled up beside Cassie.

"Letters?!" she exclaimed in surprise, "I'm going to kill Remus John Lupin," Cassie threatened.

"Keep your voice down, he's a professor at Hogwarts as well," Fred said, quickly covering Cassie mouth as curses tumbled out of it.

"Blimey Cas, I didn't know you had such a filthy mouth," he chuckled, recognising some of the muffled words.

"You don't know a lot about me," Cassie replied after Fred pulled his hand away, turning towards the books she was looking through.

I will change that soon enough, Fred challenged mentally. He smirked to himself, leaning against the chair and watched the raven-haired girl scribble something on a sheet of paper from two books about (what seemed like) charms.

"Two questions," Fred began, after completely drawing in the serene figure of the girl. Cassie nodded as a sign for him to continue, her eyes still glued onto the books.

"One, why in Merlin's name were you cursing our darling professor with such foul and vile words?"

"Because he is a prick who doesn't believe the fact that I am innocent and have no role to play with my father entering the castle," Cassie whispered, her pencil facing the wrath as it snapped into half for she had channelled her anger into the object.

Fred stared at the broken pencil with wide eyes, pushing his chair a little away from Cassandra.

"The second question?" she asked after taking a deep breath in and calming herself, pulling out another pencil from her bag.

"What's with the books? And asking to meet you in the library (Fred said the words making a disgusted face) Tell me, Cassie. When was the last time I even decided to walk into the library? Even Madam Pince stared at me with a surprised look when I strolled in through the doors," Fred said dramatically.

"Juliana Potter," Cassie said, cutting Fred mid-rant.

"And that answered all my questions!" Fred rolled his eyes, huffing.

"She is my mother. I'm sure of it now," Cassie clarified, with a little smile on seeing Fred's antics.

"Really?" Fred smiled, forgetting all about his problems with the library. He was glad the girl had some progress on finding the identity of her mother.

"Yep," Cassie grinned, "And I called you to the library to give these books to you,"

"Me?!" Fred asked, finding the idea absurd.
