"ARE YOU SURE
that's going to work?" Remus asked uncertainly as he packed his suitcase.

"Of course it is. I wouldn't suggest it otherwise," Cassandra shrugged and hopped off the desk to grab the first half of his belongings from the sleeping quarters to his office.

"It's risky,"

"Says the marauder," Cassie snorted.

"You know," she began, placing the bag near the ottoman. "I've always wanted my own crew like you guys,"

"Like the next-generation marauders?"

"Yes, but more like our own brand. Because you lot owned that title. I need my crew to have its own title, something new and better," Cassie explained. She sat on his battered suitcase which she had gifted him with the words  'Professor R.J. Lupin' inscribed on them while he stacked his resignation papers on the side.

"This is stupid. You shouldn't resign," Cassie sighed again, groaning and trying to convince him for the millionth time that morning to not quit.

"Parents wouldn't want a werewolf to teach their children," Remus shrugged.

"Says who?" countered Cassie, "You taught them for so long and no one was harmed. You are literally everyone's favourite professor! Including mine!"

Remus flushed at her compliment.

"Well after Minne of course," Cassie added with a sly smirk.

"Not even Dumbledore?" Remus asked genuinely.

"Oh Godric no," Cassie denied exasperatedly, "Don't even get me started on that git,"

"Dumbledore is an amazing and kind man," Remus contradicted.

"To you," Cassie corrected, "To me, he's been nothing but a homewrecker,"

Remus hesitated to continue his argument as soon as he saw footsteps on the map that lay open beside him. No sooner, Harry ran in, knocking on his door breathlessly.

"Don't bother with the pleasantries," Cassie called out, "He doesn't care anymore,"

"I just saw Hagrid," said Harry ignoring Cassie's comment, "And he said you'd resigned. It's not true, is it?"

"I'm afraid it is," said Remus.

He started opening his desk drawers and taking out the contents.

"Why?" said Harry. "The Ministry of Magic doesn't think you were helping Sirius, do they?"

Remus crossed to the door and closed it behind Harry.

"No. Professor Dumbledore managed to convince Fudge that I was trying to save your lives." he sighed. "That was the final straw for Severus. I think the loss of the Order of Merlin hit him hard. So he — er — accidentally let slip that I am a werewolf this morning at breakfast."

"You're not leaving just because of that!" said Harry.

Remus smiled wryly.

"This time tomorrow, the owls will start arriving from parents. They will not want a werewolf teaching their children, Harry. And after last night, I see their point. I could have bitten any of you. Especially you Cassie. That must never happen again."

"But the point remains that you didn't. I was safe and protected and you got control of yourself soon after," Cassie argued, "Besides, I was a fool to even delve that deep into the forest. I got lost,"

Remus sealed his lips shut, not wanting to repeat this conversation with his godchild again.

"You're the best Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher we've ever had!" said Harry, quickly changing the topic. "Don't go!"
