After Renfri tried to recruit them as well, Kalira and Geralt followed the stream to a quieter place of the forest. Still thinking about what the woman had said to them, they silently unsaddled their horses, piling their stuff on the ground so their horses could rest for the night. Not feeling like she wanted to sleep in the forest with her leather dress that had long slits on the sides so she could fight easily in it, Kalira opened her pack and grabbed a pair of leather pants and a shirt.

"I'm going to wash up and change." She stated before heading towards the stream and Geralt simply nodded, turning his back towards the stream in respect.

"You know what Vesemir would say?" He asked when he heard Kalira get in the stream with faint splashing noises. "Witcher shouldn't play at being white knights."

"We shouldn't try and uphold the law." Kalira joined in, knowing by heart what their mentor would say.

Geralt looked back for a second with a smirk on his lips and faced Roach again. Kalira made sure not to get her hair wet as she scrubbed her body and got out, drying herself with a piece of cloth.

"We don't show off. We get paid in coin. And he's right." Geralt continued, trying to distract himself from the fact that Kalira was naked behind him. "Remember my first monster?" He asked her as she pulled on her undergarments and clothes. "Wasn't fifty miles outside of Kaer Morhen. He was huge. Stinking. Bald head. Rotten teeth. He pulled that girl from the cart, tore her dress off in front of her father and said, it's time you met a real man. I told him it was time he met one too. It took two strikes to kill him. They weren't clean. But they were spectacular." Kalira saw the smile on his lips as she passed him to put her dress in her pack. "I turned to that girl afterwards. She was drenched in the man's blood. She took one look at me, screamed, vomited, and passed out."

"That's our life, isn't it?" Kalira asked as she recalled each time she got a reaction like that. "We save people, they repay us with coins, fear and disgust."

Kalira had caught two rabbits as Geralt prepared the fire and was crushing various herbs for their meal as Kalira was roasting her catch. She had actually missed not being alone all the time as she traveled and more importantly, she had missed Geralt. Unbeknownst to her, the same things were going in Geralt's mind as his eyes flickered to her, the woman carefully carving the meat off the bones. Feeling eyes on her, Kalira looked up from the bowls in front of her and met Geralt's amber eyes with her own.

"Is my mind playing tricks with me..." Kalira began with a smirk and walked towards him with the prepared meat. "Or is the White Wolf checking me out?"

Geralt let out a sincere laugh at her question, the sound like a melody to her ears. He took the bowl from her hands and put half of the crushed herbs and spices into hers before doing the same with his.

"Just seeing what was taking so long." Geralt shot back with a grin making her chuckle this time.

"Oh, excuse me for taking so long to prepare your meat, your highness." Kalira shot back, playfully rolling her eyes as someone watched their interaction from the shadows with a pang of jealousy. As their chuckles died down, they heard someone out there and looked up at the dark forest. "You can come out, Renfri."

"Have you two known each other for long?" Renfri leaned against a tree with a hint of red on her cheeks for being caught.

"Has it been four decades now, Geralt?" Kalira asked as Geralt nodded, his mouth full. "Something like that."

"Must be nice." Renfri replied with a distant look, a faint smile on her lips. "Having someone who understands you, knows you."

"You can have that too." Kalira tried to get through Renfri, not wanting her to prove Stregobor right. "Not too late to get out of Blaviken."

"Tell me, Witchers..." She spoke, still trying to get them on her side. "You don't believe in destiny or the lesser evil. What do you believe in?"

"You mean, who do we believe." Geralt replied this time as Kalira finished her meal. "I don't pick sides and I know Kalira doesn't either."

"You just kill monsters." Renfri replied with an understanding smile before slowly walking over to them. Kalira slightly moved to give Renfri a place to sit on the log between her and Geralt. "I've made my decision. You two gave me an ultimatum and I find they work." She stated and Kalira smiled at her, glad she was seeing reason. "Tomorrow, I'll leave Blaviken. For good. My men, they love me and I love them but it's been a long time since someone saw me." She looked at Kalira, their eyes meeting before Renfri looked at the fire before them. "When I was a girl, my mother used to run her fingers over my forehead." Renfri spoke as she had a reminiscent look on her face, her fingers weaving in the air. "She'd say she'd give a lovely lintar to know the thoughts going around in there."

As she watched Renfri's fingers and listened to her story, Kalira felt something stir in her, her mind getting fuzzy like she had finished bottles of wine on her own. Feeling Renfri's hand on her knee, she looked up to see the woman closer than before.

The fire crackled in the background as Renfri reached up to put Kalira's stray hair behind her ear. Her senses dull, Kalira leaned in Renfri's touch, the woman pulling the Witcher in for a kiss. Kalira hummed in approval as Renfri gently kissed her. Feeling the shift in the air, Geralt looked up to see the two woman connected in a slow kiss.

Renfri pulled back from the kiss, caressing Kalira's face as she looked at her with hooded eyes. She caught sight of Geralt, sitting behind Renfri, not being able to decipher the look on his face as she felt drunk. Leaving her face, Renfri turned to her left and kissed Geralt the same way she did Kalira, her hand going back to Kalira's knee.

Her mind dizzy, Kalira sucked in a sharp breath when Renfri's hand moved up her leg as she was still kissing Geralt. She threw her head back with a small moan when Renfri's fingers brushed against her sex over her leather pants which made Geralt let out a guttural sound.

Rest of the night was a blur as Kalira groaned in her sleep, tossing and turning just like Geralt. She felt like her insides were burning with poison as her hair stuck to her forehead with sweat.

"You're in the market." She heard Renfri's voice, not sure if it was real or not. "Covered in blood. You say you can't choose but you had to. And you'll never know if you were right." Renfri walked around her, looking down at her. "Kalira... Your reward will be a stoning, just like Geralt's. And you will run. You will try to outrun the girl in the woods but you cannot." She felt a weird buzz on her skin as Renfri spoke. "She is your destiny."

"Renfri." Kalira jolted awake at the same time as Geralt. They looked at each other with uncertainty, neither of them sure what happened the night before.

"The market."
