4. Whiny Jaem and Hengie's Crushes

PLACE - Midnight Café and Bookshop
CHARACTER(S) - Wong Yukhei, Wong Kunhang, Huang Renjun, Na Jaemin

"So now I'm basically stuck tutoring someone," Jaemin concluded. Yukhei nodded thoughtfully. "Good luck with that!" a shout came from the back, which made Jaemin sulk even more. "Junnie, you do know that this means that we can't hang as much, right?" he asked. Renjun peeked out from the staff room and replied, "Which means I don't have to listen to you continuously ramble about how hot Jinyoung from Got7 is."

"The only real friend I have is Hyunjin," Jaemin cried and wiped away a fake tear. Renjun simply rolled his eyes and got back to trying to fall asleep. He was on a short break and Lucas had told him to get some rest. So far, he hasn't gotten any luck.

His uncollected thoughts raced about in his mind, making it impossible for peace. Jaemin's loud rambling about needing to tutor some new student was not helping much either.

Renjun then scoffed. A new student would be taking his best friend's attention away from him. How convenient. They both barely spent time as it is, with Jaemin in college and Renjun working double and getting almost no sleep. 

He rolled about on the sofa he was sprawled on, trying to get comfortable. The door to the staff room opened and a small part of him thought it was Jaemin. Sadly, that small part of him immediately got turned down when he was pulled into a familiar embrace. 

"Why aren't you asleep yet?" Yukhei asked softly, cradling his cousin in his arms. "Too many thoughts," Renjun muttered and leaned into Yukhei's touch. Lucas shifted them into a more comfortable position. "Get some rest, Kunhang is upfront so he'll take care of things."

The shorter male jolted awake. "Guanheng is here?" He managed to wiggle out of Yukhei's embrace and went to the register to greet his other favorite cousin. "Hengie~" he cooed and latched himself onto the older male. 

"Woah hey there little one," Kunhang greeted his younger cousin. "How have you been?"

"Apart from lacking sleep, I'm good. How's Leon?" the latter mumbled. "Oh, the fact that you care about my cat more-- I've got a large Americano with 5 extra shots for... Little Sheep?"

A lanky boy scurried to the counter, a brunet following him. "Dejun I told you not to use your surname. Sorry for the confusion Hendery. This dumbass can't see the difference between Liu and Xiao," the former said as he rolled his eyes irritatedly. Renjun watched in amusement as the scene unfolded before him. The brunet pouted and nudged his companion. "Stop denying the fact that you like being called Xiao Yang instead of Yangyang," he said.  

Kunhang, who was watching the males interact with heart eyes, snapped out of his trance. "As much as I'd like to watch you guys bickering like an old married couple, you're holding up the line," he chuckled. The lanky male spits out a few profanities and a quick "see you later" before dragging the brunet behind him and out the café.

"Hengie has a crush- Wait no. Allow me to rephrase: Hengie has two crushes~" Renjun sang and tackled his cousin, careful not to move him around too much. "Shut up short stack," Kunhang grumbled as he took care of the other customer's orders. 

"So Hengie, you go by Hendery now? Thought that Guangheng and Kunhang aren't swag enough for you?" the shorter male pestered. Kunhang was too close to yeeting him over the counter and as much as he would love to do so, he couldn't. At least, Yukhei and Kun wouldn't let him to anyway. 

"Xuxi come here and collect this cockroach or else I'll tell Kun ge that you were trying to steal his cookies again!"

"I'm coming! Please don't tell Kun ge that I stole his cookies."
