13. Getting To Know and Dark Past

"What are you up to doll?" Jeno asked when he saw Renjun standing on his toes, presumably trying to reach the lonely jar of marshmallows that sat on the highest shelf. 

Jeno sighed and stepped behind the counter, getting behind Renjun in a swift movement. "What are you-- Sweet mother of God!" Renjun squeaked when he turned around to face Jeno who was extremely close to him. The said man placed one of his hands on Renjun's waist and reached above him, retrieving the jar of marshmallows with ease. "Thank you," the shorter muttered and moved away from Jeno's grasp.

"You're cute," Jeno chuckled, moving out of the workspace so he can let Renjun do his thing. The latter scoffed. "Tell me something I don't know."

There was a moment's silence and it was soon broken by Jeno. "So... Can you tell me more about yourself? Only if you're willing to of course," he asked.

Renjun pondered for a moment. 

It wouldn't hurt...

"Well, my full name is Huang Renjun, I'm Chinese, I'm turning 20 on the 23rd, I co-own this café with my cousin and I dropped out of college," he answered. Jeno nodded slowly. "Do you have a significant other? Or anyone you have your eye on?" he asked. 

Of course, as you may all assume, the familiar face of someone flashed in Renjun's mind but he chose to ignore it. "I'm a single pringle but I might have my eye on someone," he said, placing a cup of milk tea in front of Jeno and sat opposite him. 

He didn't miss the way Jeno's eyes lit up a little. "Ah, I see."

The pair sat in silence once more, just enjoying each other's presence. "You know, we've met each other before this." 

Jeno's statement shocked Renjun. "We have?" his eyes practically bulging out of their sockets. Jeno chuckled and nodded. "Wanna know where?," he asked, to which Renjun nodded vigorously. He was quite sure he would remember someone like Jeno if they had ever met before. 

Jeno placed his hands on the table and leaned closer to Renjun, causing the latter to subconsciously lean in too. "It happened during freshman year in college..."

Jeno basically summed up Renjun's first and last frat party in 5 minutes. 

What happened was, the two boys had been freshmen at the time of their first frat party, which happened to land on Halloween. Since it was Halloween after all, everyone was to dress up in a costume. Jeno had settled for a simple werewolf costume (he didn't really need one though, but he thought it was fun to join in with the silly humans and their antics). 

He wasn't too drunk that night so he knew what he was doing. Couldn't say the same for our poor little Renjunnie though. 

Renjun was shitfaced and was ready to pass out at any moment. The Chinese male might have gotten a little offended when people started calling him Tinkerbell left and right when clearly, he was dressed up as Peter Pan. 

Jeno was minding his own business, moving out of drunk people's way, and talking to his sober friends. At that moment, however, someone dressed up all in green decided that it was a good idea to spill their drink on his costume and blame him for the mess.

Oh, the audacity that Tinkerbell-looking headass had. But Jeno had to admit, he looked adorable with his cheeks bright red from the alcohol and slightly cross-eyed. If it wasn't for his conscience, Jeno would have fucked the shorter male the moment he started yelling at him. Instead, Jeno nodded to his every word and walked away calmly, leaving the boy in the Tinkerbell costume to shout at him even more. 

After that, everything else was a blur. They never crossed paths again after that incident. 

Renjun had his face buried in his hands the whole time Jeno told the story with a smirk on his face. "I'm never getting drunk again," he groaned loudly. "And I'm sorry for what happened by the way." The younger laughed it off. "It's fine. Besides, you were cute so I guess it wasn't all that bad," he assured. 

Those words just made Renjun groan even louder, both from embarrassment and annoyance.
