It's the next day and after the big argument for Maya and Casey. Maya is making herself coffee when Kelly comes in
"Morning!" Maya says smiling
"Morning!" Kelly says awkwardly
"You hears us last night didn't you?" Maya asks
"Yep" Kelly says staring at his coffee
"Look Kelly I was never gonna take the job in New York! God id never leave Chicago again! But as usual Casey had to bring having kids into it!" Maya says annoyed
"I don't know what to tell you but caseys been though a lot! He lost his first baby and then his second with Dawson! And then his third with you! Caseys dying to be a dad! And he's gotten his hopes up so many times and then been let down!" Kelly says before taking a sip of his coffee
"I know Kelly! But I can't have kids! He can't seem to get that in his head! Now I'm thinking that maybe New York is better for me! Ill see you at the firehouse!" Maya says grabbing her bags and walking out
"I'm not dying to be a dad! I stopped believing in that when Dawson lost the baby!" Casey says as he walks into the kitchen
"Look Casey" Kelly says before Casey cuts him off
"Her wedding vows! Maya said that she would love for me and her to make parents one day! I'm not doing it for me! I'm doing it for her! All of her siblings have kids! All apart from her! She's 27 Kelly! She said that time is running out for her!" Casey says as he grabs his bag and walks out
Kelly sits there with a ton of information that he didn't wanna know. He then gets up and drives to the firehouse. When he arrives he can see Maya making breakfast
"Hungry?" Maya asks
"Staving!" Kelly replies as he sits down
"Hey guys! Boden wants to see us!" Cruz says as they all walk into the briefing room
They all sit down and Kelly, Casey and Maya all stand at the back
"So as you all know I've been battalion chief for 10 whole years now! And it's the best job ever!" Boden says smiling
"So that's why I'm pleased to announce my retirement!" Boden says as everyone stands there shocked
"Congratulations chief! But who's gonna take your spot?" Cruz asks
"Don't tell us it's Gorsch!" Herrmann calls out as Maya smiles
"No but it's someone you all know very well! I'm giving this position to Maya!" Boden says as Mayas jaw drops...
