Truth is, I miss you.

All the time. Every second, every minute, every hour, every day.

If truth be told, Y/n's parents never loved her. They only sent her to school in hopes that they'd see her less often. In their eyes, having a deaf child was almost like a curse, frankly embarrassing to them, to the point that they never bothered to learn sign language for her, ultimately leading to them never understanding what she was saying.

As a child, she was never told the words I love you.

The three words she so desperately needed to hear especially growing up as a deaf kid. She gave but never received. She thought about her parents so much but did they think of her even half as much as she did them?

She always wondered where she went wrong. What she did to deserve so much abuse, both physically and verbally. To her, it felt like her parents were almost looking for reasons to hit her. Essentially, she was stripped of her freedom.

She constantly asked God why she was born into such a horrible family, what she did wrong to deserve such harsh treatment.

It wasn't until she grew older that she realised, that wasn't the kind of childhood that every kid was supposed to experience.

It wasn't until she grew older she knew that having faith was vital.

It wasn't until she grew older that she met Manjiro Sano - the person that showed her real love.

The person she had believed to be destined to meet.

Y/n tossed and turned in her sleep, furrowing her eyebrows in attempt to 'chase off' the bad dream she was having. She hated it. The same nightmare she had been having for the past five nights but it never reached this severity.

She instantaneously woke up with her heart beating out of her chest from the nightmare she just woke up from.

She turned to her side, disheartened that Mikey was not there beside her. She couldn't steady her breathing and tears threatened her soft e/c eyes.

She hesitantly got up from her bed and went out of her hospital room in hopes that she would find Mikey. She knew he wouldn't be there - he habitually didn't stay overnight - but she still went.

Holding on to the metal handrail to support her frail body, she kept walking through the corridors. Every corner she took leaving her in anticipation.

'Maybe he will be around the next corner', she kept repeating in her head.

She had never walked so much her legs were beginning to give up on her. After all, her body was nowhere as strong and healthy as a standard teenage girl.

Tears began to slip out of her eye at the realisation that Mikey was nowhere to be seen.

She desperately needed him and knew that she would not be able to go back to sleep without him.

Assuredly, her legs gave up and she collapsed onto the floor with small sobs escaping her lips.

A nurse came around the corner after hearing the loud thud of  Y/n collapsing and rushed to her aid.

Y/n was fortunate to have someone just around the corner to help her, especially in the middle of the night.

"Are you ok?", she asked.

Y/n looked up at her with teary eyes before signing, "Where's Manjiro?!"

The nurse - having never been assigned to Y/n - had absolutely no idea how to sign and only replied with somewhat comforting words.

"Let's get you back to your room first", she helped her back up onto her feet. "I'll get someone to help you ok?", the nurse gave Y/n a smile.

It was the same smile that every nurse, every doctor, had on their faces whenever they said 'you'll be ok'

How she hated those words, that smile, everything.

After helping her back to her room, the nurse went and got Y/n's regular nurse who came quickly to tend to the girl's needs.

"Bad dream again?", the nurse signed to Y/n as she gave a small nod while choking on her sobs and whimpers.

"Where's Manjiro?", she signed with hopeful eyes only to get turned down.

"Sorry sweetie but visiting hours are over", she signed with a saddened look on her face, sad that she could not give Y/n the one thing she wanted - her lover.

If it was not for her condition, she could be with Mikey right now, safely in his arms. She wanted her beloved- she needed him.

She wasn't asking for much but sometimes she got tired.

Tired of never getting the simple things she wanted.

Tired of being apart from her lover for even one minute.

Tired of trying.

She was starting to think:

Her body and heart weren't made for this.

A/N: make sure to vote and have a great day/ peaceful night <3
