You sobered up quickly. "First time?"Harry scratched the back of his head awkwardly. "Er, yeah. Is that bad?"
"No, no of course not!" You exclaimed, holding Harry's face in your hands. "I just expected The Boy Who Lived would have girls flocking after him is all."
"I think they gave up when they realized I can't talk to girls," Harry replied with a soft laugh.
"You're talking to me right now. And you talk to Hermione all the time," you frowned.
"Yeah, but you're different. And Hermione's... she's Hermione."
"I'm different?" You asked, smirking a bit.
Harry's cheeks, that were already a pretty shade of pink from your makeout, turned even redder. "You know what I mean."
"Do I?" You teased.
"Come off it," Harry groaned, leaning down to try to kiss you again.
You put your finger against his lips like he'd done to you a few minutes prior.
"Tell me. Why am I different?"
Instead of answering, Harry began to place soft kisses on your pointer finger. You didn't stop him as he moved down to your knuckle, taking hold of the ends of your fingers. Biting your lip, you watched as he moved to the smooth expanse of the back of your hand.
"Harry..."
Before he could reply, a deep, reverberating chime rang through the school. The bells of the clocktower tolled three times in a row before falling silent again.
"Shit, it's already three," you whispered. "We've got to get back to our common rooms before people start waking up."
"Oh come on," Harry said as he removed his lips from your hand with a frown. "We've got at least another hour."
You frowned back apolegetically. "Better safe than sorry."
Harry sighed and let your hand drop to your side. "Fine."
You started to turn around but Harry stopped you.
"Wait-"
"Hm? What's wrong?"
Harry rubbed his hands together nervously. "What are we... I don't really--are we going to...?"
You smiled and cupped his cheek. "What are we going to do about everybody else?"
He nodded sheepishly.
"I want nothing more than to walk into the Great Hall with you tomorrow and hold hands in the courtyard," you assured him, "but, I don't want to be insensitive. I mean I literally just broke up with Theo a few hours ago, and it'd be horrible of me to parade around with you the day after. You can understand where I'm coming from, right?"
Harry nodded, though a bit grudgingly
"I don't want to keep... us a secret, but I think we should just keep it on the down-low for a few weeks until I figure everything out with Theo and my friends. Is that okay?"
"If it's what you want," Harry sighed.
Your heart hurt at the sight of him disappointed
Cupping his other cheek, too, you kissed him nice and slow. His hands caressed your sides softly as you pulled away.
"You're what I want, Harry. I need you to know that," you murmured.
Harry gave you a soft smile and nodded again.
"It's going to be rocky either way, but I think waiting a few weeks will make everyone's reactions a little less explosive. Especially on my side."
"I'm sorry you have to deal with all of that," Harry whispered, pulling you into him.
Your arms wrapped around his neck, nuzzling your head into his shoulder.
"It's worth it."
