ANNA POV

When I walked down the stairs I caught Ace de Luca eyeing me up and down. I smirk at him, the satisfaction of having him beat two days ago still lingering my mind.

But I guess I am not the only one that caught attention.

Ace looked fucking hot. Shit. I shouldn't even be thinking like that.

He has an all-black suit on, in which his muscles flex. His brown hair is lightly curled and held back, just a few strands wouldn't hold and drop down his forehead. His jaw is sharp like a knife and his honey brown eyes pierce through me before he scowls and walks out of my sight.

When I am downstairs people come greet me and start talking about business.

God, I already hate it here.

___

It's now been two hours and I am so damn tired. We already ate and did some new business with a few mafias who are new to this.

I am dancing with Seb at the dance floor.

"I am surprised you didn't even look at him yet", Seb exclaims surprised.

"Shut up. You know that isn't true, stupid."

"Oh no, I will have to give you to someone else now I guess."

I let out an annoyed sigh "Ugh. Not again."

I hate this type of dance. The partners I get always try to flirt with me while I am just waiting that the song ends and I can finally escape from these horny men.

Sebastian swings me to the next person, who catches me and places his dirty hands on my waist.

I want to cut these hands off so bad.

He tries to talk to me several times and I just ignore him.

"Well, I guess I will have to let you go now, beautiful." He winks at me and I give him one of my worst fake smiles I can manage.

The audacity. Doesn't he know who I am?! God the next time he will touch me or talk to me I will cu-

My thoughts are cut of by all too familiar deep voice.

"Well would you look at that. Anna Giovanni." He says, venom in his voice while he smiles down at me. But it isn't a sweet one. It is an evil one.

"Well look at that. Ace de Luca." I say mocking him. "What? Why so pissed? Are you still mad because I killed Antonio?" I ask, putting a little pout on my face while he leads the dance by walking forward, meaning I am walking backwards.

His jaw clenches.

I tsk. "You shouldn't be so hard on yourself Ace. One day you might be successful, too." I say, my small smirk now evident on my face.

We sway to the music, while we just stare at each other with pure hatred.

"Don't be so stuck up now, bella. One day you'll be lying dead in an alley just like Antonio."

I let out a chuckle. Is that supposed to be a threat or something?

I mean it clearly is. But how dare he?

Our dance goes on until he takes my leg, where the slice of my dress is but also my knifes and gun, and puts it besides his torso and bends me down.

My breath hitches as he slowly trails his warm, large hands up my thigh, his smirk only growing wider by my reaction.

His face is inches away from my ear when he whispers, "Walking around with some knifes now at a ball? Naughty girl, aren't you?"

Everyone is looking at us now as we are the only one left on the dance floor. Two enemies, in such a close position. That's not something you see enemies do all the time.

I swing myself back up, my leg still besides his torso and trail my hand into his suit jacket, around his waistband. Smirking while also leaning closer to his ear.

I feel his gun in the back of his trousers and say seductively, "Well I am not the only one I guess."

The music stops and before I go, I bite his earlobe, making him clench his jaw even more.

I walk away seductively, adding a swing to my hips to tease him.

I take a champagne from a waiter that was walking by and walk out to the balcony where Vanessa told me to meet her.

I take a sip from my glass already seeing Vanessa leaning against the railing, her back towards me.

"Hey. You got anything new?"

Vanessa shakes her head. "No. It's if they don't even exist. If they are planning something, we're fucked. They're damn good at hiding their tracks."

I frown and chuck down the whole glass of champagne.

"I know they are behind the last few stolen goods. No one does it like them."

The Japanese Mafia. It isn't truly proved, but for the last three months, weapons and other trades have been stolen from 4 different warehouses of mine across the globe.

You'd think that it was Ace.

No.

I know de Luca. I know how he acts. I am always one step ahead of him. But stealing goods from me is nothing he would do.

I don't know what the Japanese are planning, but I fear that this ball is a trap, set for me. I have a weird gut feeling. And the gut feeling never lies.
