Vol. 1 Chapter 9 - End of a Guild

(Esther POV)

We were heading near one of the exits of the town, Cages were lined holding the captives of several people, some of which were families or innocents, I heard that some of these people were captured as slaves as Cannon fodder, or play things.

"Here." I said as I and Sera hide behind a building, as to prevent us from being seen by those guards.

"They are few, it's likely some have went to aid Hayden, I hope Matthew is managing to fend them off."

"Come on we need to go now." Sera said as she attempted to step into their line of sight, I stopped her.

"No, You can't just step in."

"They know me, they won't attack me, you stay here."

"Who's to say they aren't informed? They might know something is wrong, as you were assigned closely to Hayden."

"But they're right there!" She frustratingly said, she struggled as I try to stop her, and in the process her firm grasp on the dagger was lost, and it's subtle weight resulting in a light metallic clang as it struck the stone ground.

"Sera! Stop, we need to-"

"I don't think so." One of Hayden's men appeared from the dark of the alleyway.

"*sigh* I thought you two would've been more loyal, now it's the end for all of you."

"Jean... You bastard." Sera said.

"Don't blame me you abandoned goals, once I finally take you two, I'll get the life I deserve! Money and a reputation! And I may not be stronger than you but I'm faster in speed and sight, the both of you a-"

His sentence was cut, abruptly, as a loud bang resounded, and his body fell to the floor, a hole on his forehead bleeding out profusely.

"We are compromised, we need to move and take a detour!" Kara said as she approached us.

"What was that!?"

"It came from over here!"

I heard Voices approaching is quickly, I attempted to pull Sera away but she dashed away and into their line of sight, she drew and managed to plant three arrows into the foreheads of three armed men respectively, however she was overconfident in her abilities... She began to fire even more arrows at the incoming horde of guards, however to her surprise there were more of them, and they were hidden, one attempted to close-in from behind sera, but I shot a plasma bolt which reduced the man's head into fire.

Sera looked back, before looking to me. I eventually turned my gaze away from her as I saw one of the men wearing armour dashing towards her.

"Sera!" I yelled, which made her instinctively shoot an arrow, but the arrow simply phased through the man, before the figure dissipated into dust.

"!" As if she was donned with realisation, she eventually retreated from the area spout she was held up in the air, before thrown away into the opposite building in-front of me and Kara, we attempted to run for her but we were soon encompassed by a Dome, before a robed man walked into view.

"I've had enough of children here." He said as he stood in place to look at sera, before he raised his finger which caused sera to levitate off the ground and bring her closer to him.

"Oh, dear Sera. You made a mistake, Hayden will be mad, but I'm the forgiving one. I'll give you a second chance as a plaything of mine."

"Don't you touch her!" Sera's father yelled.

"Oh shut up... As if you can do anything, you do remember that seal on your arm right?"
He looked at his arm, before scolding back at the robed man.
