Jude pov:
I walked into the the house, feeling like crap. I felt a part of me die when I saw Davis sitting at the counter.
He turned around when he heard someone enter.
"Hey.." He said.
Oh god. I doubted him and acted like an ass. I have to make amends.
"No please don't say anything, I'm so sorry for whatever happened" I explained.
"No jude it's my fault.."
"No it's not" I said.
"What do you mean?"
I was confused.
"I mean you guys weren't having an affair and I just I- I thought you were and then I find out that you weren't and I'm so so so sorry!"
He raised an eye brow at me and said,
"You know we were having an affair?"
"Yeah but-"
"Unbelievable" he said, and let out a mock laugh. Way to make me feel guilty.
"Sorry I jus-"
"Save it Jude" he said raising his hand.
He sighed.
"Look, we have our first game tomorrow, lets just focus on that"
I wanted to speak but I couldn't.
"Ok" I said and nodded. I walked up the stairs to my room and thought about what he said.
We do have a game tomorrow and I need to focus.
No more relationship drama.

Jude pov:
I walked into the gym and looked at the crowd. People sure love basketball in this town.
I saw people with tons of banners saying "go Ravens!" And other lines to motivate us to do better. Honestly, they just made me more nervous.
I saw my fellow teammates shooting hoops and warming up.
I walked towards the benches and put the bag down. I was trying my hardest not to concentrate. Suddenly I heard a whisper.
"Hey, I have a big party planned tonight, try and win? I don't want it to be a fail"
I recognised that voice.
It was Emma
"I'm sorry what are the you doing tonight?" I asked. How does someone throw a party after all this drama?
"I think you mean 'who'" she said and gave me a smirk.
I sighed and walked towards the hoops.
I saw sawyer standing with the cheerleaders.
She walked up to me and said
"Hey Jude"
"Don't be afraid.." I said, trying to lighten the mood.
"What?" She asked.
"The lyrics? From the song?"
"Oh of course" she said and let out a laugh.
"Whatsup?" I asked.
"Nothing just wanted to wish you best of luck"
"Thanks" I said.
She started walking away and I said,
"Hey sawyer, how's Lydia?"
I really shouldn't have asked that. But I do care, a lot.
"She's been better" sawyer said and walked away.
I felt my heart drop.
No jude. Not tonight.
The crowd started cheering suddenly and I realised it was game time.

"Pass"
That was the key tonight. It's all about team work, it's compromise.
And that's what we did. It made us win but there was no thrill. I knew I was the top scorer but it didn't feel the same, having no one to celebrate with. Well except my mom. And I guess sawyer and emma. It's not the same as a relationship.
"Hey" someone said holding my hand.
I turned to see sawyer again.
"It's party time" logan said and slung his shoulder around sawyer.
"Yay" I said, sarcastically.

"Hey judy... Excited about tomorrowwww??" She said. Well, she slurred. Gabrielle was another cheerleader. Lots of those coming up to me tonight.
"Yeah it's my birthday, not that excited though" I said.
"Why? Should I make it more exciting" she said, with a grin.
"It's ok, sit down, you need sleep" I said and sat her down on the couch.
I walked away ignoring her request to 'stay'.
I saw Lydia walk in with sawyer. Woah. She looked pretty good. She always does. In fact, the make up made her look different. Good, but different.

Lydia's pov:
"He's looking" sawyer whispered.
"I know" i muttered.
"Act like a model, do something" she said.
I rolled my eyes.
"What should I do? Move my hips? Flash a big smile?"
"No I've- seen you do that I'd umm- wait for him to have a couple of drinks. By couple I mean the whole damn bottle but ok" she muttered the last part but I heard her. I gave her one smack and she turned around.
"Ow! Not very princess like behaviour!"
"Oops sorry maybe I should've dressed up like a serial killer, might've been better"
"Geez, someone's snappy"
"Saw, these heels are killing me" I said pointing to my very long heels.
"And this dress is too tight! My earrings are SO heavy"
"Shutup woman" sawyer said.
I groaned and walked to the balcony. Well I stumbled a lot but still.
I received a whatsapp from sawyer
If sweat pant models were a thing, you'd ace it

"Hello" someone said.
I looked up to see Davis.

"Hey"

"So the surprise is still on!" Davis said.

"Yeah I know"

"Everyone keeps pestering me about what I'm going to post for Jude tomorrow! It's my birthday as well you know"

"I'll post for you" I said and gave him a smile.

"Thanks lyd, I love you"

Wait what. Did he just tell me he loves me?

"What?"

"Nothing, I mean as a- a friend!"
He quickly covered up.

I gave him a smile and then he walked towards the side. I looked at the the other balcony door and saw jude standing there.

He heard everything

"Oh shit." I said.

"So he loves you?" Jude said and walked in, hands in his pocket.

"No he was just saying it as a friend"

He thought about it for a while but then he said,
"I believe you"
I couldn't help but smile a bit,
"Thank you Jude"

"I know we JUST broke up and it's all so sudden but can we please stay friends lyd?"
I thought about it for a while.
It's just friends right?
"Yeah, we can"
He hugged me and walked away. But that hug felt so real, so comfortable. I couldn't let him go.
But I had to.
We were friends.
The word 'friend' echoed through my mind.
