Chapter 17
And it made a lot of sense—marriage is essentially a contract and contracts are binding. I didn't see the sense of breaking an existing contract because why would you go into that contract only to break it later on? It doesn't make any sense.
"Maybe next time," I said dahil wala namang pwedeng tumulong sa kanila.
"You'll still do the demo with Dominic?" he asked.
I nodded. "Yes."
He was silent. This was better than expected—akala ko ay mag-aaway silang dalawa. Blue was never the accommodating type—gusto ko pa sana ng isa pang pusa, but I was afraid that Blue wouldn't like it dahil iyong mga pusa sa village ay inaaway niya.
Maybe it was incorrect judgment on my part na papuntahin dito si Blue while fully knowing na hindi siya friendly.
I turned around to apologize to Austin Archangel for potentially putting Violet into a compromising situation.
"Karaminah Viel," he called my name.
"Austin Archangel," I mimicked.
Tumayo siya at saka lumapit sa akin. We were standing in the middle of the garden. Kuya Robert was right—maganda ang panahon ngayon. Hindi masyadong mainit at hindi masyadong maaraw. I better check the weather report dahil mukhang nakita ko na ang perfect weather condition ko.
"Are you really going to ask Dom for a demo?"
I nodded. "He volunteered."
"I am volunteering, too."
"Okay," I said. "Then the more, the merrier," I replied. Mas maraming demo, mas marami akong magiging basis. So, if I wanted to make it big, I needed to learn more about this thing called 'romance.'
What warranted such a reaction? I knew that I couldn't really understand people's reaction to things, but I study so that I wouldn't be that clueless and helpless. My parents always told me that the world wouldn't adjust for me, so I should not feel sorry for myself and instead, do things to help me. The therapy I went to when I was younger was paying off. I think I was doing a lot better already—I already have friends.
"Are you okay?" tanong ko sa kanya.
"No, not really," he replied.
"Why?"
Hindi siya nagsalita.
He seemed like he's having a hard time, so I just stood there and waited for him to speak. I just silently counted inside my head to give him time to gather his thoughts—that's what I would want to kung ako naman ang nag-iisip.
"Do you really need Dom's input?" he asked. "Can't my input be enough?"
"Your input is invaluable as well as Dominic's," I replied. "You both present different data."
Austin Archangel's more on the reserved type...
