Three days ago, the remnants from the fire of Fuyuki have finally been extinguished. leaving an ashen city in its wake

The number of casualties went past approximately 500,000 people, including children, women, and the elderly. Meanwhile the survivors does not even reach 200, including me

We were escorted to the regional hospital in nearby cities through helicopters. On the way there, I was granted a bird eye's view of the destruction that the Grail War-- that I personallly have caused with my machination

Bodies littered the street like ants, burnt from the fire or crushed to a pulp by a falling boulder. Everywhere my eyes wander, lies the stain of blood and the lingering ashes of human dancing in the air

It was a sight that made my stomach twist in nausea

I may have been a killer, but I'm not someone who would condone senseless slaughter. What I have done cannot be excused-- Yet more sickeningly is the thought that I would have still push on despite this

A man who disregard everything and sacrifice everything just to achieve his goal. That's simply how Kiritsugu Emiya is

The trip to the hospital was a disquiet one. I held Shirou in my hand until some of the staff asked to inspect him for injuries, at which point I relent. Left alone, I gazed out the window once more

After just three days of constant fighting, scheming, and struggling, the Fourth Fuyuki Holy Grail War ended with massive headcount of dead people. Many buildings and infrastructures were annihilated, costing hundreds of millions- perhaps even billions in property damage

Japan's economy within the next few months are fucked. Their global trade will no doubt be severely affected by this

What does the public said about this? How will the Clock Tower cover up this shit-filled mess with their half-baked lies?

The answer, contrary to my prediction, is quite simple

"The most disastrous gas leak in history has occured at Fuyuki approximately three days ago at 20:37, September 27th. The resulting fire has allegedly spread 40km from the center of the city outward and sink the majority of Fuyuki in fire"

I frowned at the reporter's voice

"At the moment, local authorities are cooperating with each other to determine the case and exerting effort to search for survivors--"

WIth a click of the button the TV shut off, leaving me stnading alone in the hospital room in my hospital garb

"You can't be serious" I mutter to myself, staring at the electronic black screen "Incompetence couldn't even begin to describe people like you"

Why do they always use that excuse whenever something supernatural happen? Surely people would have already noticed the repetitive pattern by now, if not a small part of them that have actual brains in their skulls

A deep breath escaped me at that moment at the degree of mental gymnastic on display here

The absolute worst thing about this is, the Mage's Association are not completely wrong in doing so

In this case, a gas leak would  be a better explanation than anything that actually happened inside there for the past few days --  the sword beam, the rampant destruction, the literal Eldritch monsters that was summoned in Caster's wake

What explanation could one cook off under such circumstances? A tournament fought between 7 ancient figures and their respective wizard master to claim the ultimate prize in the form of a omnipotent wish-granting device so that they can ascend to the root of all creation?
