Hey guys! So this poem kinda has a sad ring to it. Yeah, I don't know where the idea came from, it just appeared. This is basically the story of Cinderella (from her POV), but the opposite. They danced, but only one of them fell in love. This is particularly short compared to my other poems, but I feel like this one has equal meaning. ....If that makes sense at all. Thanks for reading :)

I stood there, locked in a trance.
As he asked me, "May I have this dance?"
The whole time
The stars shined
As the snow fell.
That wasn't the only thing falling.
Looking deeper and deeper into his golden brown eyes
I realized
Everything I ever dreamed of
Was right there in front of me.
Almost too real to believe.
I was right.
The dream faded
The sweet lullaby he sung
Became a bitter truth.
"Was it ever me?"
I cried.
"Yes, once upon a time."
He lied.
Who would have ever thought
You could gain a broken heart
From just a dance?
A simple dance
Lingering, the blindness
Of what I perceived
To be happiness.
Oh, I was dumb.
At times, aren't we all?
Especially when you fall in love
From just a dance.
