Seungmin was curled up behind a tree, crying softly as he pressed his hands on his ears, trying to block out the screams and cries.
He couldn't watch how his alpha attacked Xiaoji, he couldn't watch his precious mate getting hurt by someone who had hurt him so much as well.
Of course he trusted the blonde but still he couldn't help but fear the worst.
What if Xiaoji wasn't the one paying with his life in the end?
It felt like forever to the brunette, his heart pounding rapidly against his ribcage and he just hoped their baby didn't know what was going on, that they just slept peacefully in their mama's belly without knowing what their daddy was doing right now.
Seungmin only opened his tightly shut eyes and gasped softly when a wet nose nudged his hand.
Hyunjin was standing in front of him, breathing heavily with the once purely white fur on his face and chest soaked in blood.
Fresh tears immediately gathered in the younger's eyes as he fell forward, throwing his arms around the alpha's neck and burying his face in the soft fur while he sobbed loudly.
The blonde shifted in his mate's hold, pulling Seungmin on his lap and hugging him close, not caring that he smeared the blood from his face on the other's hoodie.
"It's okay Minnie, it's over. I'm right here"
He whispered, caressing the omega's back, his heart aching at how desperately his love held onto the fabric of his sweater.
"He won't hurt you anymore, you're safe."
The younger still had his face snuggled in the nape of his mate's neck as he tried to calm his racing heart by inhaling the soothing lavender scent, feeling their baby shift a bit in his tummy.
The unborn was still too small to move strong enough for Hyunjin to be able to feel it but for Seungmin it was such a calming feeling knowing that at least their little one was fine.
Hyunjin caressed his mate's hair and held him close, rocking them softly as he tried to avoid looking at the lifeless body a few meters away from them.
Xiaoji had been too surprised by the other alpha jumping on him, shifting the moment they had hit the floor.
He hadn't even gotten a chance to fight back before the big white wolf had buried his canines deep into the boy's throat, just biting as strong as he could.
There was no regret for him, not even after a few minutes had passed.
Nobody hurt his precious Seungmin and the audacity to speak to the boy like this after drugging him and raping him, that was too much.
It happened that alphas killed other alphas when they were in their protection mode, especially when their omega was expecting.
So Hyunjin wouldn't even get punished, only if the king decides to do so.
Which was still possible considering the reason Xiaoji came to the town.
"Minnie, look at me."
The alpha lifted his mate's chin and carefully wiped the crystal tears away from his pale cheeks.
Seungmin leaned into the warm touch, closing his eyes as he sniffled softly.
When he opened them again, he looked into the worried ice blue orbs of his lover glistening with unshed tears.
"We're okay, right?"
The brunette nodded softly, letting his forehead rest on Hyunjin's.
"And our little one too, hm?"
Again the omega nodded and took his mate's hand, carefully placing it on his little bump where their small baby had calmed down again, they were probably sleeping now.
"Everything is okay."
They stayed like this for a while, just feeling safe in each other's arms and ignoring everything around them.
