Minho breathed heavily as he hurried down the paths of the mansion's garden, looking for Hyunjin.
His heart was pounding against his ribcage in a mixture of anger, fear and sadness, he really wanted to know the reason why the blonde had left his mate so suddenly right after the birth of their baby.
He had rushed over to his house after getting Felix and wasn't even able to explain anything to his husband, just to hand their tiny son over to Jisung and to press a small peck on the confused alpha's lips before he was already gone again.
Hyunjin could have gone anywhere although the ravenette was pretty sure that the other hadn't gotten far yet judging by the way he was walking so strangely earlier.
Minho had now passed the garden and Felix's greenhouses and was just entering the forest when he suddenly got an idea.
He didn't know Hyunjin that well but he knew that the alpha loved to go to the river.
Seungmin had told him about so many dates they had there, how his mate had loved to nap there with his head resting on the brunette's lap while Seungmin had run his fingers through the long white hair strands or braided them.
How they had spent the whole day there sometimes, having picnics and just enjoying the time as a couple before their baby would be born.
And now everything was falling apart so suddenly.
Minho was right, when he reached the shore of the river his gaze immediately fell on the snow-white furball under the big oak tree.
"Hyunjin?"
The omega sighed and sat down as well, leaving a safe distance between them to give the other some space.
"Why are you here?"
But the white wolf didn't budge, he didn't even twitch his ears and kept his eyes closed.
"I didn't leave my baby son at home without saying goodbye and ran all the way here just to get ignored by you.
I know that this is not my business whatever is going on between you and Minnie but he's my best friend and I'm not going to just watch you destroy your family.
I don't know what happened but I know that Seungmin needs you right now. And your baby needs you too.
Damn Hyunjin, you can't leave them like that! You're supposed to be there for them!"
But again the wolf just growled deeply and didn't move at all.
"Hyunjin! They need you for fuck's sake!"
You just said it's not your business! Who are you to decide what I should do and what I shouldn't do?! Just leave me alone, just go and keep them safe, they don't need someone like me! I'm better off alone just like before. I'm just hurting them. Please just take care of them
"Hyunjin!"
The white wolf stood up and looked in the direction where he guessed Minho was standing.
The ravenette's eyes widened as the pair of white empty eyes stared at him before Hyunjin turned around and left.
He just walked away without turning around with slow but steady steps, one paw after another until the white wolf was swallowed completely by the darkness of the forest.
And Minho had difficulties closing his mouth and sorting his thoughts.
He had already tried to prepare himself for all the possible outcomes of his talk with the upset alpha but he hadn't expected that.
What was he going to tell Seungmin?
How was he going to tell his best friend who just gave birth to his baby that the daddy of that baby just ran away with the words 'they don't need someone like me, please just take care of them'?
"How can I call myself his best friend if I failed him like this? I couldn't even bring his mate back and today was supposed to be the best day of their lives.
